A messaging server improves interworking of the Group-chat feature (such as defined in Rich Communications Services (RCS)) with short message services such as SMS. It matches chat invitations in an effective manner. When an RCS-User invites an SMS-User to an RCS Group-chat session, the identification of the RCS-User in the Group-chat to the SMS-User is via the MSISDN of the RCS-User. Using the MSISDN of the RCS-User in the RCS Group-chat invitation to the SMS-User will provide a direct match with the RCS-User MSISDN in the address-book of the SMS-User and therefore provide immediate clarity from who this Group-chat invitation was received. The SMS-User can accept or reject the Group-chat invitation by returning the proper response as requested in the invitation.

An access-control device that controls access to encrypted messages. During operation, the access-control device can receive an access key for a corrupted message, and can receive a cover message digest associated with the corrupted message. The access-control device stores the access key in association with the cover message digest, and stores the cover message digest in a block chain. A smart mailbox system capable of electronically communicating the receipt of mail and the collection of mail to an end user. User authentication allows the mailbox to communicate the identity of the user who collects the mail. The mailbox also images the mail so as to provide a record of the receipt of specific pieces of mail and to permit the user to visually see the collected mail without having to go to the mailbox. The identity of the sender and recipient are made available through the system. The system is also networkable so as to join multiple mailboxes within the same network.
