Method and system for improved routing
Method for use in updating a routing table of a router of a plurality of routers, said routing table comprising the route(s) to be used for at least one destination, wherein update messages with routing information are sent between said plurality of routers, typically BGP routers, wherein the following steps are performed at the router: receiving of an update message containing a path or a withdrawal of a path for a destination; determining if the (withdrawn) path is associated with a path exploration event; deciding on the updating of the routing table taking into account the result of the determination.
Selecting among multiple concurrently active paths through a network
Methods and systems for selecting among multiple concurrently active paths through a network are provided. According to one embodiment, a method is performed by a network interface of a source network device within a loop-free, reverse-path-learning network. The network is divided into multiple virtual local area networks (VLANs). Network traffic destined for a destination network device and specifying an address for the destination or including information from which the address can be derived is received from the source. A set of VLANs that can be used to transport the packet from the source to the destination is determined. Each VLAN in the set of VLANs is associated with a different path through the network from the source to the destination. A particular VLAN from the set of VLANs networks is selected, thereby effectively selecting a particular path from multiple selectable paths between the source and the destination.
Dynamic hopping sequence computation in channel hopping communication networks
In one embodiment, a device in a channel hopping, communication network independently maintains a slot counter, and computes a channel identification (ID) based on a function having inputs of a unique feature of the device, ii) a current slot of the slot counter, and iii) a set of possible channel IDs. Accordingly, the device configures its radio to receive on the computed channel ID for the respective current slot. In another embodiment, the device may determine, for a neighbor device, a current neighbor slot and unique neighbor feature, and correspondingly computes a neighbor channel ID based on the function using the unique neighbor feature, the current neighbor slot, and the set of a possible channel IDs. As such, the device configures its radio to transmit on the computed neighbor channel ID for the respective current neighbor slot.
Communication method, communication system, information processing apparatus, communication terminal, and program
A communication method for identifying a packet flow based on a predetermined rule and processing a packet belonging to the identified packet flow, the communication method includes: setting in a first node a plurality of first rules that identify a plurality of packet flows, respectively; and setting in a second node a second rule that identifies the plurality of packet flows as a group.
Communication system, virtual network management apparatus, virtual network management method and program
A communication system includes: a network configuration memory that stores network configuration information of a first layer in which an area of the first layer whose low level configuration is desired to be concealed is represented by a preset symbol and that also stores network configuration information of a second layer showing the area represented by the preset symbol. The system also includes a network configuration management section that allows a first user to manage a network of the first layer using the network configuration information of the first layer and that also allows a second user to manage a network of the second layer using at least the network configuration information of the second layer.
Flexible adjustment of uplink and downlink ratio configuration
An apparatus and method for flexible adjustment of the uplink-downlink ratio configuration for each enhanced node B (eNodeB) within a wireless communications network is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a given eNodeB is configured to determine a current or subsequent uplink-downlink ratio configuration for a pre-determined time period. The determined current or subsequent uplink-downlink ratio configuration is encoded into a special physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), the special PDCCH included in at least one radio frame according to the pre-determined time period. The radio frame including the special PDCCH is transmitted to user equipment served by the given eNodeB.
Highly reliable path accommodation design apparatus and method
Accommodation design for wavelength and sub-λ paths in a communication network is performed. If sub-λ path accommodation is possible according to search for a wavelength path present in a single-hop logical route, the accommodation in the wavelength path is executed. If sub-λ path accommodation is possible according to search for a wavelength path present in a multi-hop logical route, a logical route is selected based on the wavelength path and the sub-λ path is accommodated in the wavelength path. Additionally, each physical route suitable for the sub-λ path accommodation is searched for. If the route can accommodate a wavelength path set in a single-hop logical route by available wavelength allocation, the sub-λ path is accommodated in the wavelength path. Furthermore, routes in consideration of overlapping of nodes, pipelines, and links and operation rate are selected based on information about the start and end nodes of each of redundant routes.
Application-controlled network packet classification
Embodiments of the present invention provide a system, method, and computer program product that enables applications transferring data packets over a network to a multi-processing system to choose how the data packets are going to be processed by, e.g., allowing the applications to pre-assign connections to a particular network thread and migrate a connection from one network thread to another network thread without putting the connection into an inconsistent state.
Control of power consumption modes of communications apparatus
A network management system (NMS) for a communications network has communications apparatus capable of being operated in different power consumption modes to provide different levels of performance, has a path computation apparatus configured to select paths for the traffic using the communications apparatus, based on information about traffic load in the network and on information about the power consumption modes of the communications apparatus of at least one of the nodes. A power mode controller is also provided for controlling the power consumption modes of the communications apparatus according to information about traffic load and according to information about the paths selected. By combining of path computation and the control of power consumption modes the overall power consumption of the network can be reduced. A slave power mode controller can be provided.
Information processing apparatus and route setting method
An information processing apparatus includes a processor configured to perform a process which includes determining an address available to be set as a source address of a first packet to be transmitted to an apparatus included in a network; identifying one or more relay apparatuses in a communication route from the apparatus to the information processing apparatus; and configuring, for at least one of the identified relay apparatuses, a setting regarding a transfer destination of a second packet whose destination address is the determined address in such a manner that the second packet is transferred toward the information processing apparatus along the communication route.
