System and method for message routing in a network
A transmitting end-point computes a current transmission rate for each respective outbound half-route of outbound half-routes of a route set between transmitting and receiving end-points. The transmitting end-point receives, from the receiving end-point via a respective inbound half-route of the route set, a transmission rate limit for each respective outbound half-route, the transmission rate limit computed by the receiving end-point from routing headers of messages received by the receiving end-point on the respective outbound half-route, wherein the transmission rate limit for each respective outbound half-route places an upper bound on the current transmission rate for transmissions issued on the respective outbound half-route.
Encapsulation system featuring an intelligent network component
A network component is provided for facilitating communication of traffic between a destination server and a client over a network comprising the plurality of network paths. The network component comprising memory for storing computer-readable instructions and a processor configured to implement the computer-readable instructions. The computer-readable instructions operable to implement the following: exchange control parameters with the client via a control channel using one or more of the plurality of network control paths; encapsulate the traffic for transmission to the client; decapsulate the traffic received from the client; and schedule traffic to the client via one or more of the plurality of network paths using logic common with the client based on network parameters. A client configured to work with the network component is also described, as is a communication system including both the client and network component.
Signaling for service flows
A method for operating a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) device comprising storing a data structure correlating a plurality of border gateway protocol (BGP) attribute tags to packet header data, receiving a packet via a network of connected devices, determining a BGP attribute tag of the packet according to packet header data of said packet, determining an action to apply to the packet based on the data structure and the BGP attribute tag, and applying the action to the packet, wherein the action includes routing the packet in accordance with a BGP.
PIM source discovery by last hop router
Techniques are described for enhancements to Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) to enable a last hop router (LHR) to perform source discovery and directly build or join a source tree. According to the techniques of this disclosure, the LHR builds a communication channel with a rendezvous point (RP) router and requests source information for at least one multicast group for which the LHR has interested receivers. The RP responds to the request by looking into a register database maintained by the RP and sending source information indicating at least one source that is actively providing traffic for the at least one multicast group. Based on the response, the LHR initiates a (S,G) PIM Join message toward the at least one source for the at least one multicast group to directly build or join at least one source tree.
INTERNET PROTOCOL ENDPOINTS DATABASE IN A TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK
Aspects of the present disclosure involve systems, methods, computer program products, and the like, for providing a directory or database of IP endpoints associated with users of a telecommunications network. The IP endpoints directory may be accessed by users or other networks to determine or obtain destinations within the network or accessible through the network that are associated with users or participants of the network. Through the database, networks and users may determine one or more endpoints for communications intended for a particular user. The results from the IP endpoint database may be then utilized to route communications along one or more routes through the network based on the information stored in the database.
Optimization of application layer traffic carried by an IP connection over a mobile network
In an embodiment, there is provided a method for optimization of application layer traffic carried by an IP connection over a multi-access technology mobile network between a User Equipment UE and an IP connection endpoint in an IP network, the optimization being based on network information provided using a network information service, the network information including path costs capable of indicating preferences in terms of network paths for the IP connection, the preferences in terms of network paths including preferences in terms of access technologies.
Methods for migrating data between heterogeneous storage platforms and devices thereof
A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and storage controller computing device that establishes an application interface and a source interface to a programmable switch. A flow table of the programmable switch is updated to insert routing actions associated with the application and source interfaces. Next, when an application request received from an application is locally serviceable is determined. When the determination indicates the application request is not locally serviceable, a migration request for data associated with the application request is sent to the programmable switch from the source interface and a destination address of a source storage server is used. Additionally, a migration response to the migration request including the data from the source storage server is received from the source interface. The data is then stored locally in a destination storage server and thereby is migrated from the source storage server.
A NETWORK ELEMENT FOR A DATA TRANSFER NETWORK
A network element includes a processing system for supporting inter-area data transfer paths which are Border Gateway Protocol load sharing data paths. The processing system maintains usage attributes expressing whether a given inter-area data transfer path is to be used for servicing a given traffic category. The processing system recognizes a traffic category of a data frame to be forwarded on the basis of for example the Quality-of-Service class of the data frame. Thereafter, the processing system selects one of the inter-area data transfer paths at least partly on the basis of the usage attributes and the recognized traffic category, and forwards the data frame to the selected inter-area data transfer path. Therefore, Border Gateway Protocol load sharing can be utilized for providing for example Quality-of-Service class differentiated traffic engineering.
Configurable communication systems and methods for communication
A method is provided for managing communications from a computing device of a vehicle. The method includes receiving configuration parameters generated by a user; determining a communication priority scheme based on the configuration parameters; communicating a first subset of data according to a first communication medium based on the communication priority scheme; and communicating a second subset of data according to a second communication medium based on the communication priority scheme.
