OPTICAL LAYERED BODY, POLARIZER, METHOD FOR PRODUCING POLARIZER, IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE, METHOD FOR PRODUCING IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE, AND METHOD FOR IMPROVING VISIBILITY OF IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE
The present invention provides a method for improving visibility of an image display device which is capable of providing an image display device excellent in anti-reflection properties and bright-field contrast even using an optical layered body including a light-transmitting substrate having in-plane birefringence, such as a polyester film. The method of the present invention is a method for improving visibility of an image display device that has an optical layered body including a light-transmitting substrate having in-plane birefringence and an optical functional layer disposed on one surface of the substrate. The method includes the step of disposing the optical layered body such that the slow axis showing a greater refractive index of the light-transmitting substrate is in parallel with the vertical direction of a display screen of the image display device.
Methods and Compositions for Synthesizing Improved Silk Fibers
The present disclosure provides methods and compositions for directed to synthetic block copolymer proteins, expression constructs for their secretion, recombinant microorganisms for their production, and synthetic fibers (including advantageously, microfibers) comprising these proteins that recapitulate many properties of natural silk. The recombinant microorganisms can be used for the commercial production of silk-like fibers.
Polymeric layers and methods of making the same
Polymeric layers (50) comprising an array of blind openings (56) extending into the first major surface (52, 10111, 11211), but not through the second major surfaces (54, 10112, 11212). The blind openings each have a series of areas through the openings from the first major surface towards the second major surfaces ranging from minimum to maximum areas, where for at least a majority of the blind openings the minimum area is not at the first major surface. At least a portion of the first major surface comprises a first material and extends up to, but not into the second major surface. At least a portion of the second major surface comprises a second, different material. Methods for making the polymeric layers are also disclosed. Polymeric layers are useful, for example, as components in personal care garments such as diapers and feminine hygiene products. They can also be useful for filtering (including liquid filtering) and acoustic applications.
Methods of forming composite material films
Silicon particles for active materials and electro-chemical cells are provided. The active materials comprising silicon particles described herein can be utilized as an electrode material for a battery. In certain embodiments, the composite material includes greater than 0% and less than about 90% by weight of silicon particles. The silicon particles have an average particle size between about 0.1 ?m and about 30 ?m and a surface including nanometer-sized features. The composite material also includes greater than 0% and less than about 90% by weight of one or more types of carbon phases. At least one of the one or more types of carbon phases is a substantially continuous phase.
Plant and method for making continuous elastic yarns made of silicone material and continuous elastic yarn made of silicone material thus obtained
A plant and method for making continuous yarns made of silicone material comprises at least an extrusion station, into which the material is introduced in an amorphous condition, and extrusion means which cause the material to exit from the extrusion station along an extrusion axis. The plant also comprises a vulcanization station, located downstream of the extrusion station, at a determinate distance therefrom, in which the continuous yarn is vulcanized in a direction of treatment. The plant also comprises a drawing unit, disposed downstream of the vulcanization station.
Method of manufacture of electrical wire and cable having a reduced coefficient of friction and required pulling force
A process for manufacturing finished wire and cable having reduced coefficient of friction and pulling force during installation, includes providing a payoff reel containing at least one internal conductor wire; supplying the at least one internal conductor wire from the reel to at least one extruder; providing the least one extruder, wherein the at least one extruder applies an insulating material and a polymerized jacket composition over the at least one internal conductor wire, wherein the polymerized jacket composition comprises a predetermined amount by weight of nylon; and at least 3% by weight of a silica providing a cooling device for lowering the temperature of the extruded insulating material and the polymerized jacket composition and cooling the insulating material and the polymerized jacket composition in the cooling device; and, reeling onto a storage reel the finished, cooled, wire and cable for storage and distribution.
SOLIDIFICATION- AND EXTRUSION-MOLDED ARTICLE OF POLYGLYCOLIC ACID AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
A solidification- and extrusion-molded article of polyglycolic acid, which is formed of a resin material containing polyglycolic acid, the polyglycolic acid having a melt viscosity of 200 to 2,000 Pa.Math.s, and has a thickness or diameter of greater than 100 mm but not greater than 500 mm. A downhole tool or a component thereof and a ball sealer for petroleum excavation are formed by cutting the solidification- and extrusion-molded article. A method for manufacturing the solidification- and extrusion-molded article of polyglycolic acid and a method for manufacturing a ball sealer for petroleum excavation.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING AQUACULTURE
The method and system produces a high-moisture aquatic feed that is stable in water and has a texture that more closely resembles naturally-occurring aquatic feedstocks. The system includes a tempering unit that is structured to allow an operator to control the temperature of a low-carbohydrate high-moisture extrudate after the extrudate leaves a conventional extruder. As the extrudate flows through a tubular matrix within the tempering unit, expansion of the extrudate is controlled to produce the high-moisture water-stable aquafeed.
Plastic molded product comprising copper-based compound microparticles and preparation method therefor
Provided is a method for manufacturing a molded plastic products having copper-based compound particulates. The method includes the steps of: reacting copper sulfate with sulfuric salt, at a molar ratio of 1:1 in an aqueous solution at a temperature of 1080 C., thereby synthesizing copper sulfide particulates; forming a sheet comprising the copper sulfide particulates dispersed in a thermoplastic resin.
Polyester composition, electronic device, and method of forming film
Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a film. 50 wt % to 85 wt % of a first polyester and 50 wt % to 15 wt % of a second polyester are dried and mixed to form a mixture. The first polyester is polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), or combinations thereof. The second polyester is copolymerized of 1 part by mole of terephthalic acid, m parts by mole of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (1,4-CHDM), n parts by mole of 1,3-cyclohexanedimethanol (1,3-CHDM), and o parts by mole of ethylene glycol (EG). m+n+o=1, 0o0.4, 0.6m+n1, and 0.06n/m1.31. The mixture is melted and blended to form a polyester composition, which is extruded to form a sheet. The sheet is then biaxially stretched to obtain a film. The biaxially stretched film is then treated with a thermal setting.
