METHOD OF PRODUCING COLORANT, PIGMENT COMPOSITION, AND AQUEOUS PIGMENT DISPERSION
An object of the present invention is to provide a method of efficiently producing a colorant that can be used for production of a pigment composition or an aqueous pigment dispersion with a small volume-average particle size of a dispersed substance and with fewer coarse particles. The inventor of the present invention has achieved the object by a method of producing a colorant that includes: step 1 of kneading a composition containing a pigment having a primary particle size of 100 nm or more, a liquid medium, and a water-soluble inorganic salt with a processing machine to produce a kneaded product containing a pigment having a primary particle size in a range of 10 nm or more and less than 100 nm; and step 2-1 of mixing the kneaded product, a resin having an anionic group, and a basic compound.
Universally Dispersible Solid Pigment Preparation, Preparation and Use Thereof
The present disclosure relates to a solid pigment preparation, including at least one pigment in an aqueous solution including an amine-functional acrylic block copolymer and an amine-functional polymeric dispersant including a polyoxyalkylene moiety, as well as a process for producing the solid pigment preparations and their use in various coloring applications. The solid pigment preparations are particularly universally dispersible in both water- and solvent-based systems. Corresponding dispersions are accordingly also within the scope of the present disclosure.

The present invention relates to a method for the preparation of microparticles and solid microcapsules comprising the following steps: a) the addition, with stirring, of composition C′2 in a composition C3, the compositions C′2 and C3 not being miscible with each other, the composition C′2 being either a monophasic composition C2 or an emulsion (E1) comprising drops of a composition C1, comprising at least one active ingredient, dispersed in a polymeric composition C2, the compositions C1 and C2 not being miscible in each other, the viscosity of composition C3 being greater than 10,000 mPa.Math.s at 25° C. at a shear rate of s.sup.−1 and being less than 10,000 mPa.Math.s at 25° C. at a shear rate of between 100 s.sup.−1 and 100,000 s.sup.−1, wherein an emulsion (E2) is obtained b) applying shear to the emulsion (E2), the applied shear rate being less than 1000 s.sup.−1, wherein an emulsion (E3) is obtained; and c) the polymerization of the composition C′2.

The present disclosure generally relates to a dispersant obtained from the reaction of a liquid isocyanate compound and a polyoxyalkylene amine and its use in dispersing various particulate solids in an aqueous or organic medium.
AQUEOUS INK COMPOSITION FOR WRITING INSTRUMENTS
An aqueous ink composition for writing instruments containing an aqueous dispersion of colored resin fine particles, the colored resin fine particles containing at least a cyclohexyl (meth)acrylate monomer and a basic dye or an oil-soluble dye, the cyclohexyl (meth)acrylate monomer being contained in an amount of 30 mass% or greater relative to an amount of a polymerizable polymer component in the colored resin fine particles, and the colored resin fine particles further containing a terpene phenol resin.
AQUEOUS PIGMENT DISPERSION LIQUID
The present invention provides an aqueous pigment dispersion liquid being such that a pigment is finely dispersed, and the viscosity, and the particle diameters of the pigment are unlikely to fluctuate, being excellent in storage stability, and enabling preparation of an emulsion-polymerized toner having properly controlled particle diameters while improving the pigment utilization rate. The aqueous pigment dispersion liquid is an aqueous pigment dispersion liquid for an emulsion-polymerized toner containing a pigment, a dispersant, and an aqueous medium. The dispersant is a polymer containing a constitutional unit (A) derived from a monomer (A) such that a group containing a (meth)acryloyloxy group or the like is bonded to one end of a particular polyethylene glycol chain or the like, and a constitutional unit (B) derived from a monomer (B) having a carboxy group or the like, the polymer has a number average molecular weight in terms of polystyrene of 4,000 to 15,000, as measured by gel permeation chromatography, the polymer is contained in a state of being not ionized substantially, and the aqueous pigment dispersion liquid has a pH of 3.0 to 8.4.
Aqueous dispersion of colored particles
Provided is an aqueous dispersion of colored particles suitable for colorants for writing instrument inks, inkjet inks, painting materials, aqueous coatings, and the like. The aqueous dispersion of colored particles includes a polymer having at least a unit of a monomer derived from a dye having a polymerizable unsaturated group. The monomer derived from the dye is preferably derived from the compound represented by General Formula (1) below: ##STR00001##

Y.sub.2 represents —O— or —NR.sub.10—, where R.sub.10 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group,

PIGMENT DISPERSION
Reactive liquids diluent and reactive dispersing agents for fluid concentrates, colorants and coating compositions, wherein the reactive liquid diluent and reactive dispersing agents have a viscosity less than 1,000 cps and contain at least one molecular species having at least three reactive unsaturated sites. The reactive liquid diluent or dispersing agent may be included a coating composition to form an interpenetrating polymer network in, or crosslink with, a pigmented coating composition containing a film-forming polymeric binder.

The coloring composition includes a coated pigment in which at least a portion of a surface of a yellow pigment is coated with a resin, a halogenated phthalocyanine pigment, a dispersant having an acid value of 40 mgKOH/g or more, and a curable compound.
Universal pigment preparations for point-of-sale use
Subject matter are aqueous, low-VOC/SVOC universal pigment preparations comprising a pigment component; a water-soluble, nonionic, surface-active additive comprising a copolymer formed from a vinyl monomer and from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer selected from the group consisting of monocarboxylic esters, dicarboxylic esters, monocarboxamides, and dicarboxamides, the vinyl monomer and/or the ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing an N-containing group with pigment affinity; a phosphoric or phosphonic ester, and optionally customary additives. The aqueous pigment preparations are suitable for the coloring of inks, paints, and renders, especially in metering systems at the point of sale or in in-plant tinting systems.
