3D glasses and 3D display system

A pair of 3D glasses and a 3D display system are disclosed in the field of display technology. The pair of 3D glasses includes a light polarizing component and a light filtering component. The light filtering component is arranged at the light emitting side of the light polarizing component. The light polarizing component includes a plurality of photonic crystals, each of which is configured to reflect preset-color light among different-color light incident into the photonic crystal to enable the preset-color light to be deflected so as to ensure an optical path difference among the different-color light incident into the light filtering component from the light polarizing component. The light filtering component includes two light filters, one of which is configured to filter out the preset-color light among the different-color light and the other of which is configured to filter out light other than the preset-color light among the different-color light. The present disclosure solves the problem of the relatively high cost of the 3D glasses and reduces the cost of the 3D glasses. The present disclosure is applied for 3D displaying.

The display device includes a backlight; a polarizer disposed on a light-emitting side of the backlight and a plurality of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) stacked on a light-emitting side of the polarizer. Each LCD includes a plurality of light adjusting units; the light adjusting units of the plurality of LCDs are staggered from each other; and the light adjusting unit is configured to allow light emitted by the backlight to be refracted and emitted to a target position or be totally reflected.

The polarization glasses comprise a left eyeglass comprising a polarizer having a tilt of 45 about a light absorbing axis, and a right eyeglass comprising a polarizer having a tilt of 135 about the light absorbing axis.

The 3D image pixel also includes a first right-eye subpixel and a second right-eye subpixel that are both driven when displaying the right-eye image. The subpixels may all have a square shape. Single color emitters in the subpixels of the same eye may be driven by the same electronics. A 3D image pixel in a second spatially multiplexed stereo 3D display includes a left-eye pixel driven when displaying the left-eye image and a right-eye pixel driven when displaying the right-eye image. The pixels may all have a rectangular shape, and the horizontal measurement of the pixels may be greater than the vertical measurement of the pixels.

Architecture and designs of wearable devices for viewing multimedia in 3D are described. According to one aspect of the present invention, a display device is made in form of a pair of glasses. A separate enclosure is provided to generate content for display on the glasses. The content is optically picked up by an optical cable and transported by one or more optical fibers in the optical cable to the glasses, where an image polarizer, deposed on or included in the bridge of the glasses, receives the content and produces an alternating polarized content sequence.

The present invention relates to a time-multiplexed stereoscopic 3d projection system wherein the image-beam from a digital cinema projector is separated by a polarization beam-splitting element into one primary image-beam possessing a first state of polarization and at least one secondary image-beam possessing a second state of polarization. Polarization modulators are provided in order to modulate the polarization state for each of said primary and secondary image-beams thereof and arranged so that all left-eye images possess a first modulated state of polarization and all right-eye images possess a second modulated state of polarization. Additionally, there is provided one uniaxial condensing lens and at least one uniaxial expanding lens in order to minimize the optical path-lengths for each of said primary and secondary image-beams thereof, hence enabling said stereoscopic 3d projection system according to the present invention to operate together with projectors having a shorter throw-ratio as compared to other prior-art technologies.

A holographic display device presents a holographic image within an external part for a vehicle such as a headlight assembly or an exterior rearview mirror assembly. An outer cover defines an interior cavity, with a transparent portion, such as a window, allowing a viewer to see into the interior cavity. A presentation surface inside the interior cavity is illuminated by an image source to display the holographic image, which appears as a 3-dimensional object within the interior cavity, and which appears to be suspended therein. The holographic image may be stationary or moving, and may include a logo, symbol, or other graphic. The image source is may be hidden from direct view. One embodiment includes two circular polarizer to prevent light directly from the image source from being visible, while allowing reflected light to become visible by being having the polarization direction reversed.
