Integrated single and twin screw extruder
An extruder is disclosed, and more particularly, to an integrated single screw extruder and a twin screw extruder for mixing, compounding, kneading and/or extruding of materials. The integrated extruder includes a first barrel assembly and a second barrel assembly. The integrated extruder further includes a first screw having a first threaded portion and a second threaded portion. The first threaded portion is housed within the first barrel assembly and is configured to provide upstream material processing. The second threaded portion is housed within the second barrel assembly and is configured to provide downstream material processing. The integrated extruder further includes a second screw having a non-threaded shaft portion and a threaded portion. The threaded portion of the second screw is housed within the second barrel assembly and is configured to provide the downstream material processing with the second threaded portion of the first screw.
Extrusion process for polyethylene polymers
A method for the improved extrusion of polyethylene polymers comprising passing polyethylene through a single stage, twin screw extruder comprising a solid polymer conveying zone, a polymer melting zone, a dispersive mixing zone, and a distributive mixing/pumping zone, in which the throughput and screw speed are optimized to reduce the number of gels present, ensure complete polymer melting within the polymer melting zone, and to minimize polymer degradation.
PLASTIC COMPOSITION
A plastic composition consisting essentially of plastic matter, inorganic matter, and organic matter. The plastic composition has a notched izod impact above 12 J/m, a surface energy of at least 40 dyne/cm and, and when the plastic composition is subjected to injection molding, at least one of a tensile strength of above about 2.7 MPa, a tensile modulus of above about 600 MPa, a flexural modulus above about 690 MPa, a flexural strength above about 5.6 MPa, and a Charpy Impact above about 1.5 KJ/m2.
Process for manufacturing panels for floor and wall coverings
The present invention relates to a process for the production of a panel for floor or wad coverings comprising the steps of mixing and homogenising raw materials, thereby obtaining a dryblend, extruding said dryblend, thereby obtaining one or more thermoplastic layers, laminating the afore-mentioned thermoplastic layers, thereby obtaining a laminate, and profiling said laminate, thereby obtaining a panel for floor or wall coverings, wherein at least one thermoplastic layer is extruded by means of a co-rotating twin-screw extruder with pressure element.
Polyester composition, electronic device, and method of forming film
Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a film. 50 wt % to 85 wt % of a first polyester and 50 wt % to 15 wt % of a second polyester are dried and mixed to form a mixture. The first polyester is polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), or combinations thereof. The second polyester is copolymerized of 1 part by mole of terephthalic acid, m parts by mole of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (1,4-CHDM), n parts by mole of 1,3-cyclohexanedimethanol (1,3-CHDM), and o parts by mole of ethylene glycol (EG). m+n+o=1, 0o0.4, 0.6m+n1, and 0.06n/m1.31. The mixture is melted and blended to form a polyester composition, which is extruded to form a sheet. The sheet is then biaxially stretched to obtain a film. The biaxially stretched film is then treated with a thermal setting.
Peroxide Treated Metallocene-Based Polyolefins With Improved Melt Strength
Disclosed herein are ethylene-based polymers having low densities and narrow molecular weight distributions, but high melt strengths for blown film processing. Such polymers can be produced by peroxide-treating a metallocene-catalyzed resin.
Segmented films with high strength seams
Unitary films and laminates thereof are provided having at least first and second film segments which extend adjacent one another and are permanently joined together. The first and second film segments are joined at an interface, wherein at the interface a tip of the second segment overlaps the first segment in the cross-direction of the film. The film has a thickness T at the tip of the second segment, and the second segment has a thickness t at a distance T in the cross direction from the tip of the second segment. The ratio T/t is suitably greater than about 3. The unitary films and laminates thereof are well suited, for example, for use as outer covers in personal care articles.
Polyolefin microporous membrane and production method thereof
A polyolefin microporous membrane is disclosed. The membrane includes at least one microporous membrane layer, where the microporous membrane layer has an air permeability between about 100 sec/100 cc and about 220 sec/100 cc, a pin puncture strength of at least 550 gf, and a crystallization half time t.sub.1/2 of from 10 to 35 minutes when subjected to isothermal crystallization at 117? C. The air permeability and the pin puncture strength are normalized to a thickness of 16 ?m.
Polyolefin Pipe
This invention relates to a polymeric pipe, and more particularly a polymeric pipe where the pipe comprises a crosslinked polyolefin formed from extruded polyolefin comprising a photoinitiator and a reactive extrusion species. More particularly, this invention relates to the manufacturing of plastic pipes and tubing by utilizing co-rotating twin screw extrusion combined with photo-induced crosslinking, of thermoplastic polymers such as polyethylene, to produce PEX pipes and tubing.
ABUSE-PROOFED DOSAGE FORM
The invention relates to a dosage form that is thermoshaped without being extruded and that is safeguarded from abuse, comprising at least one synthetic or natural polymer having a breaking strength of at least 500 N in addition to one or more active substances that could be subject to abuse and optionally physiologically acceptable adjuvants. The invention also relates to a corresponding method for producing said dosage form.
