Connector and infusion set
A connector includes a housing defining a male connector insertion section into which a male connector is inserted from the outside and an elastic valve body having a slit and blocking the male connector insertion section. The elastic valve body includes a top face having the slit and a bottom face located opposite to the top face. The housing includes a holding section having contact with the top face and the bottom face of the elastic valve body to hold the elastic valve body. The holding section surrounds the slit when the valve body is viewed from the top face. The diameter of a bottom face side holding section having contact with the bottom face is smaller than the diameter of a top face side holding section having contact with the top face.
Multi-layer film welded articulated balloon
A method of fabrication of a medical balloon, and a balloon device useful for various medical balloon procedures, such as gastrointestinal, vascular, reproductive system, urinary system and pulmonary applications. At least two layers of a thermoplastic film are sealed at their peripheral edges and heat sealed at one or more locations inside an area enclosed by the sealed edges at predetermined locations, in one implementation of the balloon device. Such configuration enables the balloon to articulate to a desired shape upon inflation, with the desired shape being selected to accommodate a specific medical application.
Surgical utility connector
A surgical utility connector is detectable by a surgical utility supplying device to indicate connection with the surgical utility supplying device. The surgical utility connector includes a first connecting region, a second connecting region, and a detection region between the first connecting region and the second connecting region. A utility channel may pass a utility from the surgical utility supplying device. The utility channel may extend through the first connecting region, the detection region, and the second connecting region. The surgical utility connector also may include a magnetic element disposed in the detection region and surrounding the utility channel. The magnetic element may have a field detectable by the surgical utility supplying device when the surgical utility connector is connected to the surgical utility supplying device.
Method and systems for providing fluid communication with a gastrostomy tube
A low profile adaptor is disclosed to reduce the length of a gastrostomy tube that has been inserted by means of conventional endoscopic procedures or with a replacement feeding tube inserted into the patient's stomach. The gastrostomy tube is cut to the appropriate length by the physician. The adaptor comprises a stem which is inserted into the open end of the gastrostomy tube. The valve assembly contains a seal that functions as a one-way valve to prevent reflux of gastric contents but permits the introduction of feeding solution into the feeding tube. A lock and key mechanism is incorporated into the hub of the gastrostomy tube to prevent disconnection of the feeding tube. A cover is placed over the opening of the adapter to prevent contamination of the lumen of the gastrostomy tube.
Ensured component bonding
A tube connector includes a flexible member that engages an inserted length of tubing. The flexible member is configured to adhere to the tubing in the presence of an applied solvent, thereby forming a hermetic seal.
Catheter having a multi-section tubular member and method of making the same
A multi-section tubular member including a sleeve surrounding and bridging a joint between a first section and a second section of the tubular member, and a method of forming a multi-section tubular member are disclosed. A polymeric sleeve may extend over a portion of the first section and an adjoining portion of the second section. A length of heat shrink tubing may be placed over the sleeve and heated, thereby compressing the heat shrink tubing around the sleeve. The sleeve may then be thermally bonded to each of the first section and the second section. The heat shrink tubing may then be removed, leaving the sleeve securely joining the first section and the second section to form a multi-section tubular member.
Tubing adapter for influencing the pressure inside a tubing section during a medical treatment
A tubing adapter for interconnection with a least one tubing section of a medical device, a dialysis fluid tubing system including such a tubing adapter, a medical device including such a dialysis fluid tubing system, and a method for avoiding a pressure within a dialysis fluid tubing system that is below a minimum pressure are described.
Catheter tunneler adapter
A catheter tunneling adapter including a longitudinal body having a distal end and a proximal end and a passageway extending from an entrance at the proximal end to an exit at the distal end. The passageway has a first hemisphere and a second hemisphere with the first hemisphere defining a generally unobstructed first passageway portion from the entrance to the exit. A guide ramp is positioned within the second passageway and tapers towards the first hemisphere moving from the proximal end to the distal end. The ramp defines a longitudinal notch therethrough such that a second passageway portion extends from the entrance to the exit.
Luer lock adapter
An adapter for a medical receptacle having an internally threaded skirt with an outside diameter and an inside diameter, and a post within the skirt, includes a proximal end portion having a threaded surface including at least one thread configured to threadingly engage a threaded interior of a skirt of a medical receptacle, and a distal end portion having a surface portion and a generally cylindrical recess. The proximal end portion includes a tapered recess defined by a wall, a chamfer, and a seat and the surface portion includes a gripping mechanism. A conduit is positioned between the tapered recess and the generally cylindrical recess such that the conduit is in fluid communication with both the recess and the generally cylindrical recess.
