Apparatus and method of manufacturing open-mouth bags, comprising a storage device with a supply of bag film, a control device for controlling, a conveying device for conveying the bag film and/or the bag body along a conveying path, a welding device with welding means for making a bottom seam in the bag film and a cutting device with a cutting means for separating a predetermined film length of the bag film to form the bag body of an open-mouth bag. The control device controls the conveying device so as to cause a relative motion of the bag body and the bag film and a distance between the bag body and the bag film is generated prior to making the bottom seam. The control device controls the conveying device and the welding means so that while welding the bottom seam the welding means extend at least up to the bottom end of the bag body.

Flat-bottom gusseted bag made from multi-layer sheet
11225360 · 2022-01-18 · ·

A flat-bottomed bag is formed from a flexible sheet that initially is flat prior to being manipulated to form the bag. The sheet is a laminate of a first web and a second web laminated together by an adhesive layer disposed between the webs. The sheet defines a plurality of serially connected side wall panels collectively defining a vertically extending side wall of the bag, and a plurality of bottom panels respectively connected to the side wall panels at respective fold lines. The bottom panels are folded about the fold lines and are attached together to form a flat bottom wall configured to support the bag in an upright orientation. The adhesive layer is in a partial-coverage pattern that includes adhesive-free regions located along each fold line between each bottom panel and the respective side wall panel connected therewith.

Plastic bag and method for making the same

A plastic bag has a safety even when a flap is not adhered on an outer surface of a side gusset. One of the opposite end portions of the side gusset is obliquely folded in half along a fold line and interposed between the two layers of the side gusset, so that the flap is formed by the end portion between the two layers of the side gusset. The flap includes a folded edge formed by a folded inner edge of the side gusset, and an open edge formed by one of the opposite end edges of the side gusset. The flap further includes a joining edge extending straight or curved and joining the folded edge and the open edge on opposite sides of the fold line.

Unfilled open side-gusset bag

A bag has two face panels having upper and lower transversely extending end edges and longitudinally extending side edges between outer ends of the end edges, two side gussets each between a respective one of the side edges of one of the face panel and the respective side edge of the other face panel, and a base panel having a peripheral edge connected to the lower edges of the face panels and gussets. The panels and gussets form beveled or rounded corners at upper ends of the side edges. Respective corner welds at the corners each extend inward from the respective side edges while leaving the face panels unconnected and forming a filling opening between the corner welds.

Production of airtight packages with side gussets

The present invention relates to a method for making airtight packages (100) made of flexible material that are configured to seal an environment inside the package with respect to an external environment, said packages (100) comprising a front panel (1), a back panel (2) and two side gussets (3, 4) provided at opposite ends of the front panel (1) and of the back panel (2) so as to connect the front panel (1) to the back panel (2). The method comprises a first step of folding a sheet (60) made of flexible material along two first fold lines (L1) which are mutually parallel so as to form a tubular element (61). Moreover, the method comprises a second step that consists in folding an end portion of the tubular element (61) along two second fold lines (L2) that are oblique with respect to the direction of the first fold lines (L1) so as to form an end portion of the tubular element (61) that has two triangular portions (6, 7) having two mutually parallel sides (8, 9) and having a distance between each other equal to twice a first predetermined distance (D1). In addition, the present invention also comprises a machine (200) which allows using such method and a package that can be made by means of such method and such machine.
