Embodiments of the present invention allow a mobile communication device to detect a sensor associated with a particular location, and information about that location is provided to the mobile communication device. Other embodiments allow data to be detected and processed in order to characterize a location and objects contained therein.
Mobile robot providing environmental mapping for household environmental control
A mobile robot includes a processor connected to a memory and a wireless network circuit, for executing routines stored in the memory and commands generated by the routines and received via the wireless network circuit. The processor drives the mobile robot to a multiplicity of accessible two dimensional locations within a household, and commands an end effector, including at least one motorized actuator, to perform mechanical work in the household. A plurality of routines include a first routine which monitors a wireless local network and detects a presence of a network entity on the wireless local network, a second routine which receives a signal from a sensor detecting an action state of one of the network entities, the action state changeable between waiting and active, and a third routine which commands the end effector to change state of performing mechanical work based on the presence and on the action state.
Use of RF-based fingerprinting for indoor positioning by mobile technology platforms
A method is provided for determining the position of a mobile technology platform within a structure, wherein the mobile technology platform is equipped with a gyroscope, a magnetometer and at least one accelerometer. The method includes deploying a set of RF (radio frequency) beacons within the structure, wherein each RF beacon emits an RF signal; recording, at each of a set of sampling locations within the structure, the RF signature created by the RF signals received at the location; forming an RF fingerprint of the structure from the recorded RF signatures; and using the RF fingerprint, in conjunction with readings from the gyroscope, magnetometer and at least one accelerometer to determine the location of the device within the structure.
Systems and methods for adaptive multi-feature semantic location sensing
This disclosure describes systems, methods, and computer-readable media related to employing adaptive multi-feature semantic location sensing methods to estimate the semantic location of a mobile device. A set of wireless data scans associated with one or more access points at one or more locations may be received. One or more features of the one or more locations may be identified, based upon the set of wireless data scans wherein the features are associated with one or more location metrics. At least one of the one or more access points may be determined to be associated with a first location based upon, at least in part, the set of wireless data scans. A first classifier for the first location may be generated based upon, at least in part, the one or more features and the associated access points.
Transmitting notifications to users in a venue based on locations of users within the venue
To improve communication with users, a venue management system is associated with the venue and allows an administrator to configure notifications to send to users at or near the venue. To configure a notification, the administrator provides to the venue management system notification information for presentation to users, criteria describing conditions need to be satisfied for the notification to be transmitted to users, and user targeting information identifying characteristics of users to receive the notification. Based on information gathered by the venue management system, the venue management system determines whether at least a threshold amount of the criteria of the notification are satisfied. If at least the threshold amount of the criteria of the notification are satisfied, the venue management system sends the notification to users having characteristics matching at least a threshold amount of the user targeting information.
Systems and methods for detecting proximity and location of a smartphone or other device to a vehicle
A remote keyless system for a vehicle includes a plurality of slave transmitter modules arranged in a plurality of locations in the vehicle. A master transceiver module is configured to pair with a wireless device; wirelessly transmit data to and receive data from the wireless device; transmit first wired messages to the plurality of slave transmitter modules to send first wireless messages to the wireless device; receive a plurality of second wireless messages directly from the wireless device, wherein the second wireless messages comprise data including received signal strength indicators (RSSIs) corresponding to each of the plurality of slave transmitter modules, respectively; and determine a location of the wireless device relative to the vehicle based on the RSSIs in the plurality of second wireless messages.
High rate VHF datalink
A very high frequency (VHF) transceiver can include an amplitude and phase shift keying (APSK) modulator configured to modulate signals for transmission across a first VHF channel of a plurality of VHF channels used to communicate between or among aircraft and one or more ground stations. Each of the VHF channels can have a bandwidth of at least 8.33 kilo Hertz (kHz) with a data rate per Hertz (Hz) greater than or equal to 3 bits per second per Hz (bps/Hz). The VHF transceiver can include a power amplifier configured to amplify the modulated signals prior to the transmission. The VHF transceiver can include a linearity controller configured to control linearity of the power amplifier according to at least one of a Cartesian feedback amplifier linearization, pre-distortion amplifier linearization or feedforward amplifier linearization to mitigate nonlinear distortion associated with signals output by the power amplifier.
Techniques for heuristically determining coordinates in a wireless network
A technique for a network entity to locate a first device and a second device within a communication network is described. The technique receives measurement data from the first device and the second device, appends the received measurements data to a database that includes prior measurement data, and determines coordinate values for each of the first device and the second device based on the measurement data and at least a portion of the prior measurement data. The technique may further determine a location distribution for one of the first device and the second device with respect to the network entity and determine a statistical coordinate value for the first device and the second device. The location distribution may be adjusted based on whether the device is mobile or stationary.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IN A TIMED MANNER ENABLING A USER DEVICE ON THE MOVE TO UTILIZE DIGITAL CONTENT ASSOCIATED WITH ENTITIES AHEAD
The disclosure relates to a content selection system for enabling a user device on the move to utilize content associated with an entity located ahead of the user device. The content selection system determines a current position and travel direction of the user device, determines a current travel remainder for moving along a travel route from the current position to the entity located ahead of the user device, based on stored geographical location associated with the entity. The content selection system compares the travel remainder to a maximum threshold value associated with the entity. The content selection system enables content associated with the entity to be utilized by the user device, when the travel remainder is equal to or lower than the maximum threshold value. The disclosure also relates to a user device comprising at least a portion of the content selection system.
