BACKHAUL FOR ACCESS POINTS ON HIGH SPEED TRAINS
20170238141 · 2017-08-17 ·

Reception and transmission from at least two sets of antenna ports on a high speed train are controlled, wherein the at least two sets of antenna ports are installed at different locations on the high speed train. This involves determining a velocity and the position of each of the antenna ports, and using these as a basis for determining a reception combining scheme and/or transmission scheme from the sets of antenna ports. Signals are transmitted and received from the sets of antenna ports in conformance with the determined reception combining and/or transmission scheme.

REWARD-BASED SURROGATE SHOPPING SYSTEM AND METHOD

A method for reward-based surrogate shopping may include receiving remote orders from remote shoppers, each including order parameters defining items for purchase and a desired date or time of day of fulfillment of the remote order, receiving assignment requests from surrogate shoppers, each including request parameters identifying a brick-and-mortar store and a desired date or time of day for fulfilling by the surrogate shopper of one or more remote orders, comparing the received remote orders with the received assignment requests and pairing together ones in which at least one order parameter matches at least one request parameter, and for each matched pair, receiving a completion indicator identifying fulfillment by the surrogate shopper of the remote order paired therewith, and providing a reward to the surrogate shopper for completion of surrogate shopping at the identified store for the paired remote order.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LEVERAGING TEXT MESSAGES IN A MOBILE-BASED CROWDSOURCING PLATFORM
20170238153 · 2017-08-17 ·

The present invention includes a system for providing a mobile-based crowdsourcing platform configured to provide an intuitive and semi-automated means of collecting and managing user-driven data by leveraging text messages. The crowdsourcing platform is configured to leverage a Short Message Service (SMS) communication system for generating and transmitting command text messages to mobile devices of users of the service. The command text messages essentially elicit or otherwise train/educate the user's mobile device to automatically transmit requested data back to the crowdsourcing platform, the requested data including the location or position of the user within a given environment.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LIGHTING AND BUILDING OCCUPANT TRACKING
20170237487 · 2017-08-17 ·

Disclosed is a system and method for using visible light communication (“VLC”) to perform indoor position location. Through use of a system and method configured as set forth herein, the position of any appropriately marked person or item may be found indoors using data interconnected modules that communicate with one another via RF and visible light. A mobile receiver in the form of a tag or badge attached to the person or item to be tracked receives a VLC signal from a plurality of lighting modules, and transmits back to a processor the data it received so that the processor is able determine the tag's or badge's physical position with respect to the individual network modules.

Systems and Methods for Improving Indoor Position Detection

Systems and methods which provide a uniform interface into indoor positioning systems. The systems and methods receive multiple indoor position data sets from multiple indoor positioning systems, filter the various data sets for each system to identify the most accurate or reliable position as determined by each system, and calculate a refined indoor position, based upon the filtered positions, which is then returned as the indoor position of the device in question. The returned value can be provided in a client-server architecture, via an API, or both.

INDOOR LOCATION DETECTION USING CEILING PATTERNS
20170238147 · 2017-08-17 ·

One embodiment provides a method for location detection using an indoor ceiling pattern within a building, the method including: utilizing at least one processor to execute computer code that performs the steps of: capturing, using an image capture device, an image of the indoor ceiling pattern; identifying, within the image, at least one object; generating, based on the at least one object, a key matrix; determining if the key matrix matches a subset of a known key matrix; and responsive to the determining, identifying, based on the known key matrix, a location of the image capture device within the building. Other aspects are described and claimed.

System and Method for Determining a Resource Selection Technique
20170238321 · 2017-08-17 ·

A method for vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication in a wireless network, the method includes determining, by a first User Equipment (UE), a V2X carrier load in a coverage area of a Base station (BS), and transmitting, by the first UE, a data message over an air interface using either a random resource selection technique or a resource sensing multiple access technique based on the V2X carrier load in the coverage area of the BS.

Addressing wireless nodes

A user may point a control device at a controllable device for which control is desired, and the control device may detect the targeted controllable device. Additionally, the control device may detect a plurality of wireless nodes and list the available wireless nodes. For example, the control device may identify wireless nodes associated with a particular room in the house, or the control device may detect the wireless nodes within a certain range. The list may be a selectable list and a user may select the desired device to control from the list. Upon detection or user selection, the control device may establish control of the wireless node and initiate actions associated with the selected device.

Method and apparatus for discovery of location context identifiers based on approximate location

As part of a localized positioning solution, a mobile device may transmit a request message to a server to obtain information about location contexts near the mobile device. In response, the server may, in some implementations, transmit a response message back to the mobile device that identifies a list of nearby LCIs and an area that encompasses these LCIs. The mobile device may store the returned LCI information and the returned area information in corresponding databases for later use. In some implementations, time limits may be placed on the returned area information after which the information is deemed stale.
