In one aspect, the invention has an object of providing antifouling coating compositions which have high resistance to fouling, in particular, fouling by slime, can form coating films with excellent properties such as strength and rubber properties, exhibit appropriate viscosity (sprayability and coating film surface leveling properties during spray coating) and sagging resistance, and have high storage stability suppressing deteriorations of these properties. To achieve the object, the invention provides an antifouling coating composition including (A) a diorganopolysiloxane having at least two silanol groups in the molecule, (B) an organosilane and/or a partial hydrolyzate condensate thereof having at least two hydrolyzable groups in the molecule, and (C) a pyrithione metal salt. The antifouling coating composition can be prepared from a kit in the form of a multiple-component system including respective packages of a component including the component (A) and the component (C), and a component including the component (B). In the (kit for the preparation of the) antifouling coating composition, the pyrithione metal salt (C) functions as an effective ingredient for achieving excellent antifouling properties, in particular, anti-sliming properties, and also as an effective ingredient for improving storage stability.

Fatty amines, amidoamines, and their derivatives from natural oil metathesis

Fatty amine compositions made from a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives are disclosed. In another aspect, fatty amidoamines made by reacting a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives with an aminoalkyl-substituted tertiary amine are disclosed. The fatty amines or amidoamines are advantageously sulfonated, sulfitated, oxidized, or reduced. In other aspects, the ester derivative is a modified triglyceride made by self-metathesis of a natural oil or an unsaturated triglyceride made by cross-metathesis of a natural oil with an olefin.

Sorbic acid ester containing coatings composition

The present invention is a composition comprising a solution or a dispersion of polymer particles, a sorbate ester or sorbamide curing agent, and a cure modulating additive for the curing agent. The curing agent is a sorbic acid ester or a sorbamide and the cure modulating agent is a reagent capable of accelerating or attenuating the rate of cure of the curing agent. The control of cure kinetics is important for speeding up cure rates where rates are too slow or by reducing cure rates where curing too rapidly results in undesirable color formation.

Polymer encapsulated TiO2 coating formulation

The present invention is a composition comprising a) an aqueous dispersion of TiO.sub.2 particles encapsulated with an encapsulating acrylic or styrene-acrylic polymer comprising from structural units of diacetone acrylamide; and b) adipic acid dihydrazide. The composition is useful in coatings applications and shows a surprising improvement in gloss over compositions that do not include diacetone acrylamide functionalized encapsulating polymer and adipic acid dihydrazide.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING COATED METAL STRIP
20170333943 · 2017-11-23 ·

A coating including polycarbonate-unit-containing polyurethane resin and 5 mass % or more of nonvolatile matter is applied to a traveling metal strip in a state in which the surface temperature of the metal strip is 60° C. or lower. Next, the coating applied to the metal strip is baked at 80-250° C., and a coating film having a film thickness of 0.3 μm or greater is formed on the traveling metal strip. The proportion of polycarbonate units to the total mass of resin in the coating film is 10-80 mass %. The traveling metal strip is then wound after being cooling to a surface temperature of 80° C. or lower.
