Method for joining dissimilar metals and articles comprising the same
Disclosed herein is an article comprising a first metal layer; a second metal layer that is chemically different from the first metal layer; and a third metal layer disposed between the first metal layer and the second metal layer and contacting both the first metal layer and the second metal layer; where the third metal layer is chemically similar to either the first metal layer or the second metal layer; where at least two metal layers that are chemically similar are welded together through a clearance opening located in a metal layer that is not chemically similar to the at least two metal layers.
VEHICLE FRAME COMPONENT
A vehicle frame component for limiting the movement of the wheel of the vehicle toward the cab of a cab on frame vehicle including a base member welded to openings in the frame side rail and extending outwardly and located proximal the wheel structure. In one embodiment the vehicle frame component is located forward of the wheel and includes a tire puncture device to deflate the tire during an offset front impact and in a second embodiment the vehicle frame component is located rearward of the wheel. The vehicle frame component has particular utility during an offset front impact where the offset is less than approximately twenty-five percent (25%) of the width of the vehicle.
VEHICLE BODY ASSEMBLY SYSTEM
A vehicle body assembly system defines a preset pre-buck section and a preset main-buck section along a conveying route of a floor assembly, and may include: i) pre-buck units which are installed at both sides of the conveying route in the pre-buck section, respectively, restrict lower portions of side assemblies, which vary in accordance with a type of vehicle, with respect to both sides of the floor assembly, and preassemble the lower portions of the side assemblies to the floor assembly by a first welding robot; and ii) main-buck units which are installed at both sides of the conveying route in the main-buck section, respectively, restrict upper portions of the side assemblies preassembled by the pre-buck unit, and post-assemble vehicle body components to the upper portions of the side assemblies by a second welding robot.
Door frame
A door frame includes: an outer joint part of an outer member and an inner joint part of an inner member are welded at a plurality of welding portion; wherein, in a cross-section orthogonal to an longitudinal direction, the inner joint part includes an inner inside surface an inner outside surface and an inner side surface, and the outer joint part includes an outer inside surface and an outer side surface; wherein, in at least one of the welding portions, an inner notch is provided at an outer edge of the inner joint part and a weld path is formed between the inner side surface and the outer side surface; and wherein a weld bead, which is formed to fill the weld path, is attached to the inner outside surface, the inner side surface, the inner inside surface, the outer side surface, and the outer inside surface.
VEHICLE BATTERY-CARRYING FLOOR STRUCTURE
A vehicle battery-carrying floor structure that includes: a bottom plate member that has a plurality of unit members that are arranged in a vehicle body forward and rearward direction and that are joined by joining opposing joint portions, each unit member having a flat plate portion that extends in a vehicle width direction and that has the joint portions formed at an end portion facing the vehicle body forward direction and at an end portion facing the vehicle body rear direction and a partition portion that is disposed upright so as to extend in the vehicle width direction on an upper surface of the plate portion; and side plate members that are provided on an upper surface of the bottom plate member on outer sides in the vehicle width direction of the partition portions and form, with the partition portions, regions that hold battery packs.
Mechanism and suspension to improve stability and handling for knuckle-boom loader trailers in off-road conditions
A knuckle-boom loader trailer has a trailer frame, a heavy equipment package of a knuckle-boom crane and an operator cab mounted on top of the trailer frame, and a walking-beam suspension propping up the trailer frame.
UAM resistance spot weld joint transition for multimaterial automotive structures
A vehicle body assembly is described herein, including a first structural component and a second structural component. The first structural component may be a roof component or a side panel, and include a first part including a first metal and a second part including a second metal different than the first metal. The second part is formed on a peripheral edge portion of the first part and defines a mounting flange for the first structural component. The second part is joined to the first part via an ultrasonic additive manufacturing (UAM) interface. The second structural component is including the second metal and is joined to the second part at the mounting flange via a resistance spot weld (RSW) joint.
METHOD FOR INSTALLING FILLER TUBE AND INSTALLATION STRUCTURE FOR FILLER TUBE
A method for installing filler tube includes the steps of: preparing a fuel tank including an opening; preparing an intervening member including a cylindrical member body and an annular member flange; preparing a filler tube including a cylindrical tube body and an annular tube flange; arranging the intervening member so that not only the member body is arranged in the interior of the fuel tank through the opening but also the member flange locks to a front-side peripheral face of the opening of the fuel tank; and welding not only the front-side peripheral with the tube flange but also the member flange with the tube flange by arranging a hot plate in a facing space between the front-side peripheral face and the tube flange and then warming the front-side peripheral face, the member flange and the tube flange.
Filler tube for a fuel tank
A filler tube for a fuel tank, having a tube portion made of plastic material and a tubular adapter, which is connected to the tube portion, for coupling the filler tube to the fuel tank, wherein a lateral surface of the adapter is integrally bonded, in particular welded, to a lateral surface of the tube portion, wherein the adapter and the tube portion overlap in the region of the integrally bonded connection.
