ASPHALT CONCRETE HAVING A HIGH RECYCLED CONTENT AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
The disclosure relates to methods of making asphalt concrete mixtures including reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP). Variability in the fraction of binder that occurs in RAP that is able to melt and mix with virgin binder included in the concrete mixture previously made it difficult to select an appropriate amount of virgin binder. Methods described herein permit an asphalt concrete mix designer to determine the amount of virgin binder that can be combined with RAP and virgin aggregate in order to satisfy the minimum effective binder content of a job mix formula for such a concrete mix. The subject matter described herein thus permits more efficient use of RAP and permits use of RAP in higher amounts in asphalt concrete mixtures.
CARTRIDGE FOR MIXING DME FUEL WITH ADDITIVES
A fuel additive cartridge for use with a dimethyl-ether fuel system of a vehicle includes a reservoir for storing and dispensing a liquid fuel additive into a flow of fuel in a fill conduit during refueling. The cartridge also includes a dispenser actuated by the fuel flow to selectively dispense the liquid fuel additive from the reservoir. The fuel additive cartridge is intended to attach to a dimethyl-ether fuel system at a location between a fueling inlet connector and a storage tank to facilitate a metered mixing of liquid fuel additive from the cartridge and dimethyl-ether during the re-fueling of the storage tank.
LIQUID MEDICATION DISPENSING MACHINE
Provided is a liquid medication dispensing machine that can shorten the time to supply a liquid medication to a prescription bottle. The liquid medication dispensing machine is a liquid medication dispensing machine supplying a liquid medication from a liquid medication bottle containing the liquid medication to a prescription bottle, including a liquid medication stirring unit that stirs the liquid medication in the liquid medication bottle, a bottle holding unit that holds a plurality of liquid medication bottles including a first bottle containing a liquid medication G and a second bottle containing a liquid medication B, and a control unit that controls operation of the liquid medication dispensing machine. The control unit operates the liquid medication stirring unit to stir liquid medication B while liquid medication G is supplied from the first bottle to the prescription bottle.
METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE SOLUBILITY OF A BUFFER
The invention discloses a method for predicting the solubility of at least one species at a specified pH value in an aqueous buffer comprising at least one weak acid species and/or at least one weak base species. The method comprises the steps of: a) selecting a start composition of the buffer, giving a start value for the total solute concentration; b) calculating the concentrations of all ionic species present in the buffer at the specified pH value from the total composition of the buffer and available dissociation constants; c) calculating the solubility limits of each combination of ionic species present in the buffer from available solubility products, taking the concentrations calculated in step a) into account; d) comparing the concentrations of all ionic species calculated in step a) with the solubility limits calculated in step b) and determining if any solubility limit is exceeded; e) if no solubility limit is exceeded, increasing the total solute concentration of the buffer or, if at least one solubility limit is exceeded, decreasing the total solute concentration of the buffer, and; f) repeating steps b)-e) until a predetermined convergence criteria is met.
Microfluid device and method of producing diffusively built gradients
A microfluid device for producing diffusively built gradients comprising a bottom plate and a cover plate, wherein the cover plate has recesses and is connected to the bottom plate in a liquid-tight manner so that the recesses form at least two reservoirs and one observation chamber, which connects the reservoir, a reservoir can be filled particularly through an inlet/outlet through the cover plate, and the cross-sectional surface of the observation chamber is at least 5 times, preferably at least 200 times smaller at the aperture of the observation chamber into one of the reservoirs than the maximum cross-sectional surface of the reservoir in parallel to this cross-sectional surface of the observation chamber.
System and device for preparing and delivering food products from a mixture made up of a food liquid and a diluent
The invention relates to a system for hygienically reconstituting and delivering food preparations, such as drinks, comprising a metering and mixing device connected to a container containing a base liquid, in the form of a package configured to be connected to a base station. The metering and mixing device comprises a pump for metering the liquid, a diluent intake and a mixing chamber. Coupling means are provided for providing the diluent supply and the means for driving the liquid pump.
Fluid mixing and dispensing system
A system for mixing a first fluid with one or more additional fluids to create a mixed fluid and for dispensing the mixed fluid is disclosed. The dispensing system includes a mixing tank; a first pump for the first fluid; a second pump for a second fluid; and a sensor positioned adjacent the mixing tank wherein the sensor outputs a signal based on a force exerted by the mixing tank in a direction toward the sensor. A controller of the system execute a program to: (i) receive the signal from the sensor, and (ii) operate the first pump for a first time period and operate the second pump for a second time period based on the signal from the sensor such that the first fluid and the second fluid are delivered to the mixing tank before being delivered to a storage tank for dispensing the mixed fluids.
Mixing and dispensing curable multi-component materials
Methods, apparatus, devices and systems for mixing and dispensing multi-component materials. The mixing and dispensing may be performed using a mobile, enclosed dispenser that can be used to supply a mixed multi-component material at the point of use. In some embodiments, the components to be mixed into the multi-component material may be supplied in cartridges.
Feedback controlled concrete production
Techniques or processes for efficiently producing concrete using dynamic feedback are disclosed. A concrete plant can use a control system to manage concrete production based on the dynamic feedback. The dynamic feedback can control mixing of concrete ingredients so as to yield uniform particle distribution for the concrete ingredients. The dynamic feedback can also avoid overflow situations as well as yield improved loading of the resulting concrete into a concrete transport vehicle (e.g., concrete truck).
VORTEX MIXING AND RATIO ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM
A matter displacement and mixing system having a mixing chamber for material to enter, and a vortex aperture that directs air into the mixing chamber at either a high velocity for violent shearing or lower velocity for gentle mixing. This would depend on the shape of the vortex aperture, or the pressure.
