An aqueous storage solution for the storage of red blood cells, comprising an aqueous solution and at least one lipid, wherein the at least one lipid is effective in suppressing hemolysis in red blood cells and wherein the at least one lipid is emulsified within the aqueous solution.

System for hypothermic transport of samples

A system for the hypothermic transport of biological samples, such as tissues, organs, or body fluids. The system includes a self-purging preservation apparatus to suspend a sample in preservation fluid and perfuse a tissue with preservation fluid. The self-purging preservation apparatus is placed in an insulated transport container having a cooling medium. When assembled, the system allows for transport of biological samples for extended periods of time at a stable temperature.

A system for the hypothermic transport of biological samples, such as tissues, organs, or body fluids. The system includes support systems to permit arrangement of cooling media around a biological sample without potentially damaging direct contact between the cooling media and the biological sample. Systems and methods disclosed herein also include specific configurations, types, and performance characteristics of cooling media such as phase change materials to allow for extended hypothermic storage and transport.

METHODS FOR COOLING AN ORGAN
20250072416 · 2025-03-06 ·

Methods for cooling organs. The methods include using a layered organ support surface with a temperature sensor. The organ support surface can have a cushion layer, a core layer, and an insulating layer. The insulating layer can insulate the cooling media from the organ.

MODIFIED SINGLE DOSE, MICROPLEGIC APPROACH TO CARDIOPLEGIA FOR ADULT HEART
20170049811 · 2017-02-23 ·

Disclosed are compositions and methods for providing a modified single dose all blood approach to cardioplegia and reanimation. The disclosed method of preserving a heart comprises of administering a cardiac arrest induction solution to the blood of a subject, perfusing the heart with the blood containing the cardiac arrest induction solution, and reanimating the heart with a cardiac reanimation solution. The cardiac arrest induction solution disclosed herein consists essentially of Potassium, a calcium channel blocker, a sodium channel blocker, and a free radical scavenger, while the cardiac reanimation solution comprises of calcium channel blocker and one or more of a sodium channel blocker, a beta receptor blocker, potassium, and a buffer.

Compositions and methods for refolding of denatured proteins

Compounds and methods for refolding of proteins in an aqueous solution. In particular, biocompatible multiblock copolymer surfactants such as poloxamers, meroxapols, poloxamines, or polyols are used to catalyze proper refolding without changing the protein composition, and restore the protein to its native conformation and native biological function. The methods can be practiced both in vivo and in vitro. The biocompatible multiblock copolymer surfactants can be used for renaturation of recombinantly expressed proteins, and for renaturation of proteins that are unfolded due to heat, irradiation, mechanical shearing, electrical shock, frostbite, chemical stress, and other abiotic or biotic stresses.
