The present teachings provide apparatus and methods for mixing a reformable fuel and/or steam with an oxygen-containing gas and/or steam to provide a gaseous reforming reaction mixture suitable for reforming with a reformer and/or a fuel cell stack of a fuel cell unit and/or fuel cell system.

MULTIPLE EMULSIONS COMPRISING RIGIDIFIED PORTIONS

The present invention generally relates to microfluidic droplets and, in particular, to multiple emulsion microfluidic droplets. In one set of embodiments, multiple emulsion droplets are provided, where an inner shell of the droplet is relatively thin, compared to the outer shell (or other shells) of the droplet. For instance, in one set of embodiments, the inner droplet has an average thickness of less than about 1000 nm. In some cases, the inner shell may be rigidified, e.g., to form a gel or a polymeric layer. This may be useful, for example, for preventing coalescence of fluids within the microfluidic droplet. Other embodiments of the present invention are generally directed to methods of making such droplets, methods of using such droplets, microfluidic devices for making such droplets, and the like.

Flow device for exhaust treatment system

An exhaust treatment system includes an exhaust conduit for conveying exhaust gases from an engine of a vehicle. An aftertreatment device is disposed in the exhaust conduit. A flow device is disposed upstream of the aftertreatment device. The flow device includes a base having a first surface and an oppositely disposed second surface. The base defines a plurality of openings. A plurality of flow deflectors is engaged to the base at the plurality of openings. Each flow deflector includes a first deflector that extends outwardly from the first surface of the base and a second deflector that extends outwardly from the second surface of the base. The first and second deflectors define a passage. Flow of exhaust gases through the passage cause exhaust gases to swirl about a longitudinal axis of the exhaust conduit.

Exhaust gas post-treatment device

A device, in particular an exhaust gas post-treatment device, having a pipe, in particular an exhaust pipe, through which a gas flow, in particular exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, s is guided; having an injection device, associated with the pipe, for metered injection of a fluid medium, in particular exhaust gas post-treatment agent, into the gas flow; and having at least one mixing apparatus that is disposed in the pipe downstream from the injection device and has several air guidance elements disposed in one plane. Provision is made that the plane is oriented at least substantially perpendicularly to an injection direction of the injection device.

Exhaust gas aftertreatment device with injection section

An exhaust system injection section (10) includes an exhaust gas flow channel (19), a laterally arranged injector connection (21), with a fluid introducing injector (22) and an injection chamber (24) formed in the channel, which is delimited by a perforated first separating wall (25), arranged in the channel upstream of the injector connection, and a perforated second separating wall (26) arranged in the channel downstream of the injector connection. To provides intensive mixing of the injected fluid with the exhaust gas flow a perforation (29) of the first separating wall (25) is configured so that exhaust gas largely flows eccentrically through the first separating wall (25) with respect to a longitudinal center axis (23) of the channel and a perforation (31) of the second separating wall (26) is configured so that exhaust gas largely flows concentrically through the second separating wall (26) with respect to the longitudinal center axis (23).

Assembly for controlling eductive dispensing

An assembly for controlling the eductive dispensing of multiple chemical fluids is described. The assembly is designed to detachably engage with existing eductor valve assemblies as either an original part or as a replacement part. The assembly comprises a plurality of selector gears that rotatably engage with eductor valve assemblies. The selector gears are in communication with a control gear. When the assembly is attached to a plurality of eductor valve assemblies an individual can control the rotation of multiple valve assemblies by rotating a single control knob.

A system for producing homogenized oil field gel including a power unit, a control system, a feed tank, a hopper, and a piping assembly that includes inlet and outlet manifolds, centrifugal pumps, and metering devices for filling the feed tank and handling a discharge of oilfield gel. The system further includes a powder hydration component and liquid chemical equipment. The method for producing homogenized oil field gel includes a guar powder procedure including a controlled sequence for starting and stopping a venturi mixer in a hydration unit. The method for producing homogenized oil field gel further includes a liquefied gel concentrate procedure including a metering and chemical injection procedure for mixing a liquefied gel concentrate.

Reductant injection in an exhaust system

An engine exhaust system comprising an exhaust pipe routing an exhaust flow through a bend, and being in fluid communication with a catalyst downstream of the bend. An injector mounted to the exterior of the exhaust pipe, the injector with a tip disposed within the exhaust pipe at the bend, for injecting liquid reductant into the exhaust pipe. A shield member mounted in the exhaust pipe, the shield member comprising a generally tubular or frustoconical structure having a proximal and a distal end, the proximal end being disposed such that the injection tip is inside the shield member, the distal end being disposed towards a centerline of the exhaust pipe. A vane mounted in relation to the shield member, the vane being arranged to direct a proportion of exhaust flow from upstream of the bend in a substantially arcuate path into the proximal end of the shield member.

Burner

A burner includes a tubular inner tube portion and a tubular outer tube portion. The inner tube portion mixes fuel with air. The outer tube portion surrounds the inner tube portion. A peripheral wall of the inner tube portion has a gaseous mixture outflow hole. The gaseous mixture outflow hole causes a clearance between an inner peripheral surface of the outer tube portion and an outer peripheral surface of the inner tube portion to communicate with an interior of the inner tube portion. A peripheral wall of the outer tube portion has an air supplying hole. The air supplying hole further supplies air to the clearance.

High-density fine bubble-containing liquid producing method and high-density fine bubble-containing liquid producing apparatus
09764254 · 2017-09-19 · ·

Initial liquid containing fine bubbles is produced by mixing water and air (step S11). Fine bubbles have diameters of less than 1 μm. The density of bubbles in the initial liquid is measured (step S13), and when the measured density is less than a target density (step S14), the initial liquid is heated and reduced in pressure so that the liquid is vaporized (step S15). As a volume of the liquid decreases, the density of fine bubbles increases, and high-density fine bubble-containing liquid is easily obtained. Alternatively, by increasing the density of fine bubbles in the initial liquid with using a filter that does not pass all fine bubbles, high-density fine bubble-containing liquid is easily acquired (step S15). When the density of bubbles in the initial liquid is greater than the target density, the initial liquid is diluted (step S16).
