The present disclosure describes a DNA fragment mixture for the prevention or for the treatment of at least one pathogenic, parasitic or infesting species of plants or of the environment, wherein the DNA mixture consists of random fragments of total DNA of at least one pathogenic, parasitic, or infesting species, and/or at least one phylogenetically similar species, against which the prevention and treatment are directed. Further, the disclosure describes a process and related system for improvement of the production/growth of microorganisms at high yield in bioreactors or photobioreactors, or of plants in different culture systems, where the nucleic acids of the organisms produced/grown by such a process are removed from the culture medium and the culture medium, deprived of these nucleic acid, is used again in the process.

Variant of D-psicose 3-epimerase and uses thereof

The present invention relates to an improved variant of a D-psicose 3-epimerase and its uses.

Methods and compositions for improved expression of recombinant proteins

Provided herein are methods for the improved production of periplasmic-targeted recombinant proteins in E. coli host strains. Also provided are E. coli host strains with improved capacity for producing recombinant proteins.

Biocatalytic methods to convert cyclohexane oxidation process waste streams to useful products

The invention relates to methods for enriching monomer content in a cycloalkane oxidation process mixed organic waste stream. In particular, the methods involve combining a biocatalyst with a mixed organic waste stream from a cycloalkane oxidation process, and enzymatically converting dimeric and/or oligomeric components of said waste stream into monomeric components. The methods may enrich the content of diacids, adipic acid, and/or other α,ω-difunctional C6 alkanes in the mixed organic waste stream. Additionally, the treated mixed organic waste streams may have improved burning efficiency.

Microbial production of n-butyraldehyde

Microorganisms and methods of producing n-butyraldehyde with enhanced yields are presented in which a microorganism is engineered to enhance the conversion of a carbon source into n-butyraldehyde. The n-butyraldehyde is recovered by way of a gas stripping process that occurs during the conversion process, providing significantly greater product yield than post-fermentation recovery of n-butyraldehyde alone.

Corynebacterium microorganism with improved ability to produce L-lysine and method for producing L-lysine using the same

A microorganism of the genus Corynebacterium with an improved ability to produce L-lysine in which a septum formation initiator protein is inactivated and a method for producing L-lysine using the microorganism.

Method for identifying antibiotic targets

Provided are methods for identifying differentially represented genes, the method comprising the steps of generating a pool of mutant bacteria by transposon mutagenesis with an activating transposon (Tn.sub.A), wherein the Tn.sub.A comprises a promoter such that transposon insertion into bacterial DNA increases the transcription of a gene at or near the insertion site; growing bacteria from the mutant pool in the presence of different amounts of said antibiotic to produce two or more test cultures; and comparing the distribution of Tn.sub.A insertions between test cultures.
