SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SIMPLIFIED FLIGHT DIRECTION AND WAY-FINDING ON A PRIMARY FLIGHT DISPLAY

A method of providing navigational assistance includes: obtaining position information of an aerial vehicle relative to a defined path; calculating an intercept angle for the aerial vehicle to direct the aerial vehicle to a preferred track angle; generating a 3-D perspective projection synthetic view window depicts differences in three dimensions between a point on a defined path and the aerial vehicle at a latitude, longitude, altitude, and a given viewing angle. The 3-D perspective projection synthetic view window includes: a graphical depiction of the defined path through a subsequent waypoint, and a 3-D tactical navigational symbol that includes a preferred intercept angle symbol that is positioned relative to the graphical depiction of the defined path based on the preferred track angle and the intercept angle. The method further includes displaying the 3-D perspective projection synthetic view window on a display device for use in navigating the aerial vehicle.

COMPUTING CONTOUR MAP USING TOPOLOGICAL CASES AND CLASSIFIER CASES

A computing device including one or more processing devices configured to receive raster data including raster data values. The processing devices obtain classifier grid data including classification values selected from among two or more classes. The processing devices generate a contour map by, for each of the classes, generating contour segments connecting pairs of grid locations included in the raster data. Generating the contour segments includes computing respective topological cases of cells of a superimposed grid, which includes cells of the raster data that are associated with respective classification values. Generating the contour segments further includes computing respective classifier cases of the cells. The contour segments are computed based on the topological cases and classifier cases of the cells and are combined into contours. The contour map is computed as a visual representation of the contours. The processing devices output the contour map for display at a display device.

NAVIGATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPERATION

A navigation system for an aircraft includes a light source, a light sensor, one or more processors, and a computer readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the navigation system to perform functions. The functions include illuminating a surface using the light source to cause light to be reflected from the surface and detecting the light and generating data representing the light using the light sensor. The data maps intensities of the light to respective positions on the surface. The functions further include identifying within the data a subset of the data that corresponds to a border and causing navigation of the aircraft based on a position of the border indicated by the subset of the data.

Dynamic approach procedure system

A method and apparatus dynamically update customized integrated terminal approach procedure interfaces based on changing real-time events associated with aircraft and airports. A dynamic approach procedures application extracts and analyzes terminal approach data, aircraft data, airport data and real-time weather data to automatically generate an integrated terminal approach interface. The integrated terminal approach interface presents dynamic digital approach information, the interface including a map interface and a procedure side bar displaying route-related procedures data to assist pilots with selecting a route into the destination airport. As conditions change, displayed terminal approach data within the map and procedure side bar is updated and route recommendations are refined, to assist a user in selecting destination airports, routes, and relevant approach procedures.

METHOD FOR MONITORING AN ENERGY LEVEL OF AN ELECTRICAL ENERGY SOURCE OF A HYBRID POWER PLANT FOR AN AIRCRAFT

A method for monitoring an energy level of an electrical energy source capable of delivering a reference electrical power PRef for a reference time period DTRef for a reference charge level NRef. Said source comprises at least one electrical energy storage device and several sensors. Said method comprises using the sensors to acquire parameters of the electrical energy source, then calculating a main consumption time period DTprin wherein the source is able to supply an electric current carrying the reference electrical power PRef, as a function of the parameters of the source. Next, a main display of main symbols indicating the main consumption time period DTprin is displayed in order to indicate to an operator how long the source can supply the reference electrical power PRef.
