Data usage assessment when allocating roaming resources
A method, system, and apparatus are described for facilitating data roaming. The system is configured to monitor data usage by a mobile device associated with a first communication network when roaming on a second communication network. The system is further configured to receive a request initiated by the second communication network to allocate a roaming resource to the mobile device. The system is further configured to assess at least a portion of the data usage to determine whether or not to grant the request for a roaming resource. The system is further configured to, in response to a determination to grant the request, communicate a reply indicative of the determination.
Access point with controller for billing and generating income for access point owner
A modified end user network access point includes a switching module and a controller to track usage of the end user network access point by wirelessly connected end user devices. The tracked usage information is transmitted from the end user network access point to a remotely coupled data center. The data center collects usage information from a plurality of different end user network access points. The collected usage information is in turn transmitted from the data center to a network carrier. The network carrier uses the received usage information to bill users for accessing the end user network access points and using any services provided by the end user network access points. An owner of each end user network access point is compensated by the network carrier each instance that an end user device utilizes the end user network access point to access the network carrier's communications network.
Service delivery condition change management
In order to manage a change in conditions of using a service associated with a communication in progress established by a user terminal (TU) within its communications network (RT), a server determines that the user's account does not permit the delivery of the service with a change in the conditions of using a service, after the receipt of a first request derived from a network element, said request comprising an identifier of the service regarding the communication and a parameter defining the change in conditions of using the service, and the server transmits to the network element a response containing a code indicating that the delivery of the service is authorized only with other conditions of using the service, in order for the network element to transmit to the server a second request containing another parameter defining another change in conditions of using the service.
Apparatuses and methods for selection among multiple subscriber numbers
A mobile communication device is provided with a processor. The processor is configured to receive a request for starting a Mobile Originated (MO) service, determine a plurality of remaining usage quotas for the MO service, which correspond to a plurality of subscriber numbers, and select one of the subscriber numbers for starting the MO service according to the remaining usage quotas.
Predictive disconnect in an offline charging system
System and method for implementing a predictive disconnect in an Offline Charging System of a telecommunications network are provided. In one aspect, an apparatus for implementing a charging function in the OFCS is configured to determine that a resource allocated to the OFCS for processing messages received from one or more Charging Trigger Functions (CTFs) connected to the OFCS is experiencing or about to experience a bottleneck condition. The apparatus is configured to heuristically determine an expected duration of time for the resource to return to a normal condition, and is further configured to initiate a disconnection between the OFCS and one or more of the CTFs connected to the OFCS for at least the determined expected period of time.
Hybrid Liability Model
A system and method for setting a billing allocation between a user and a company allowing the costs for personal and work use of a mobile device during a period to be allocated as desired. The system and method further provides for allocation of costs associated with obtaining a new mobile device. The billing allocation model provides maximum flexibility to allow a user to obtain the mobile device desired, while still allowing the user to take advantage of a company's preferred corporate rates and discounts and allowing a company to maintain control of mobile device costs relating to purchase and use of the mobile device.
Data usage profiles for users and applications
Embodiments profile users and applications based on network data usage. Data usage statistics are collected and compared for the users and applications. Profiles are assigned to the users and applications based on the comparison. In some embodiments, the applications are ranked based on data usage and presented to the users in an application marketplace.
Mobile activity intelligence
In various embodiments, a method is described that includes receiving mobile device usage data directly from each of a plurality of mobile devices associated with a particular enterprise, aggregating the usage data from each of the plurality of mobile devices at a central database, and generating one or more mobile device usage reports based on the aggregated usage data.
PROVIDING MOBILE COMMUNICATION SERVICE USING A DONGLE DEVICE
A system may receive, from a dongle device (dongle), a connection request to receive mobile communication service (service) associated with a service campaign (campaign) for a mobile device: the mobile device being associated with a first service provider (SP); the dongle being associated with a second SP and the campaign; the dongle being configured to provide the service from the second SP to the mobile device; and the connection request including a dongle device identifier (identifier) associated with the dongle. The system may compare the identifier with stored identifiers associated with the campaign. The system may determine that the identifier is associated with the campaign if the identifier matches one of the stored identifiers and may cause a connection to be established to provide the service to the mobile device via the dongle based on the identifier being associated with the campaign.
