Metal-containing methacrylates incorporated into polymeric materials with antimicrobial capacity for biomedical applications, and more particularly for dental purposes, are provided. An object of the present invention is to provide a dental material, particularly, a dental prosthesis, having excellent properties such as hydrophilicity and antifouling properties. The dental prosthesis according to the present invention includes a monolayer film obtained by curing a composition including: a compound (I) having at least one hydrophilic group selected from anionic hydrophilic groups and cationic hydrophilic groups, and at least one functional group with a polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond; a compound (II) having two or more functional groups with a polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond (wherein the compound (II) has no anionic hydrophilic group nor cationic hydrophilic group); and a surfactant (III) having a hydrophilic moiety including an anionic hydrophilic group, a cationic hydrophilic group or two or more hydroxyl groups, and a hydrophobic moiety composed of an organic residue (wherein the surfactant has no polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond).

A dental restorative composition is provided that includes a polymerizable resin, a substantially translucent structural filler, a nanofiller having a mean particle size less than 100 nm, and at least one rheology-modifying additive. In one embodiment, the structural filler has a refractive index substantially similar to that of the polymerizable resin, a coarse particle fraction, and a fine particle fraction having a mean particle size greater than 0.1 m and smaller than the mean particle size of the coarse particle fraction. The relative ratio of the coarse particle fraction to the fine particle fraction is in the range from about 12:1 to about 2:1 by volume, the particle size distribution of each fraction is essentially monomodal, and the D(90) of the fine particle fraction is less than or equal to the D(10) of the coarse particle fraction.
