A system for controlling a consist of rail vehicles or other vehicles includes a control unit electrically coupled to a first rail vehicle in the consist, the control unit having a processor and being configured to receive signals representing a presence and position of one or more tractive effort systems on-board the first vehicle and other rail vehicles in the consist, and a set of instructions stored in a non-transient medium accessible by the processor, the instructions configured to control the processor to create a optimization schedule that manages the use of the one or more tractive effort systems based on the presence and position of the tractive effort systems within the consist.
Rail conditioning system
A rail conditioning system associated with a locomotive is provided. The locomotive operates on a rail. The rail conditioning system includes a fluid supply tank. The rail conditioning system also includes a first nozzle coupled to the locomotive. The first nozzle is adapted to direct a first beam of fluid received from the fluid supply tank towards a first portion of the rail. The rail conditioning system further includes a second nozzle coupled to the locomotive. The second nozzle is adapted to direct a second beam of fluid received from the fluid supply tank towards a second portion of the rail. The rail conditioning system includes a valve element provided in fluid communication with the first and second nozzles. The rail conditioning system further includes a control module in communication with the valve element.

A sand spreading system for a rail vehicle with driveable and/or brakeable rail wheels. The sand spreading system includes a sand box for storing spreading sand, a sand staircase which is fastened to the sand box for the compressed-air-controlled metering of the output of spreading sand, and a sand outlet tube which is connected to the sand staircase via a sand hose and opens in front of a rail wheel. By a heating device for generating a hot air flow passing through the spreading sand being integrated in the sand staircase, the spreading sand can be kept dry and pourable even in the wet and frost, and therefore the function of the sand staircase and hence the effective operation of the rail vehicle are assured.
Device for spreading granulate
A device for spreading granulate, particularly for spreading sand into the gap between a rail and a wheel of a rail vehicle, includes a housing, at least one inlet for the granulate and at least one outlet for the granulate, an axially movable metering piston and a compressed air connection, which leads into a pressure chamber and serves for actuating the metering piston by compressed air to meter the granulate. At least one bore is provided in the metering piston. To create a device which is of particularly simple and compact construction, a conveying air chamber separated from the pressure chamber and has a compressed air connection is provided, and at least one bore in the metering piston connects the conveying air chamber to the at least one outlet for the granulate, such that granulate can be conveyed to the at least one outlet by compressed air independently of the metering process.

A device for spreading granulate, particularly for spreading sand into the gap between a rail and a wheel of a rail vehicle, includes a housing, at least one inlet for the granulate and at least one outlet for the granulate, an axially movable metering piston and a compressed air connection, which leads into a pressure chamber and serves for actuating the metering piston by compressed air to meter the granulate. Controllable track conditioning unit
An adjustment device for a track conditioning unit has a measuring unit for determining a lateral offset of a rail, travelled on by a rail vehicle, relative to an effective range of a track conditioning unit or a measuring unit for determining the relative position of a bogie with respect to the rail car body. The adjustment device contains a determining unit for determining an actuation command for an actuation unit in accordance with the determined lateral offset between the effective range of the track conditioning unit and the rail. Part of the adjustment device for the track conditioning unit is also an actuation unit for actuating an actuator unit of the track-conditioning unit with an adjustment command which is generated on the basis of the actuation command. The actuator unit adjusts an effective range of the track conditioning unit on the basis of the adjustment command.
