A process for preparing a thermoplastic polymer composition or a thermoplastic polymer blend, comprising: from 20 to 80% by weight of at least one water-moist elastomer component A containing up to 40%, preferably up to 30% by weight of residual water, from 20 to 80% by weight of at least one thermoplastic polymer B, from 0 to 40% by weight of at least one further polymer C, and from 0 to 60% by weight of additive(s) D, by mixing the elastomer component A with the thermoplastic polymer B and, if present, the further polymer C and, if present, the additive(s) D in an extruder, comprising the steps of precipitating the elastomer component A, and mechanical dewatering of the elastomer component A leads to improved salt-free products.

The saturated aldehyde (B-1) is preferably propanal, butanal, hexanal or a combination thereof. The saturated ketone (B-2) is preferably acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, 2-hexanone or a combination thereof.

A second distributor plate is arranged upstream of the profile plate in flow direction of the extrusion material. The first and second distributor plates are configured such that at least a majority of the material paths runs through the first and second parting surfaces.

MIXING SECTION FOR PLASTIC EXTRUSION SCREW

An mixing section for an extrusion screw has an inlet end and an outlet end as well as alternating wiping lands and barrier lands. The wiping lands have a greater helix angle than the barrier lands. The wiping lands and the barrier lands define inlet channels which narrow toward the outlet end and outlet channels which widen toward the outlet end. A helical pattern of mixing channels is cut into the wiping lands and the barrier lands. The mixing channels may be oriented generally at approximately right angles to the wiping lands and the barrier lands. A portion of the extrudate encounters the inside wall surfaces of the mixing channels and changes direction which improves the mixing of the extrudate.
