Method and system for additive manufacturing or repair with in-situ manufacturing and feeding of a sintered wire
A system for manufacturing of a sintered wire and in-situ feeding to a laser wire welding system is presented. The system includes a pressure vessel connected to a powder feed system for delivering at least two powders to a powder mixing zone of the pressure vessel. The at least two powders are mixed via a rotating cone in the pressure vessel. After mixing, a heating device contained within the pressure vessel heats the mixture so that liquid phase sintering occurs and a sintered rod is created. The sintered wire is continuously fed to a laser metal deposition system for depositing a layer of additive material on a base material. A method of additively manufacturing or repairing a superalloy component is also presented.
Pre-sintered preform braze reinforcement of pressure vessels

An example technique includes positioning a PSP reinforcement on a surface of a substrate. The technique includes heating the PSP reinforcement to soften or melt at least one constituent metal or alloy of the low-melt powder. During heating, the PSP reinforcement is configured to conform to a contour of the surface of the substrate. The technique also includes cooling the PSP reinforcement to define a reinforced component.
Welding electrode with radial-serrated weld face and method of forming and reforming weld face
A welding electrode for an electric resistance welding process. The welding electrode includes a body extending along a center axis and terminating axially at a weld face for contacting a work face. The weld face defines a center along the axis and defines an outer edge spaced radially from the center. A plurality of senates are defined along the weld face. Each of the serrates projects axially away from the weld face and extends radially from the center axis to the outer edge of the weld face. A higher density of the plurality of serrates is formed proximate to the center axis than proximate to the outer circumference of the weld face. Methods for using the welding electrode and forming the senates on the welding electrode are also provided.
Method for manufacturing a weldable metal-polymer multilayer composite
A method for manufacturing a sandwich panel as a semi-finished product where at least one layer of a non-metallic material is positioned between at least two metallic layers. At least one of the metal layers is shaped into a three dimensional layer and the metal layers are material closured to each other by a tack weld on the metallic contacts between the metallic layers to enable resistance weldability of the semi-finished product in order to connect the semi-finished product to a desired combination of solutions.
Hydrogen purification devices
Hydrogen purification devices and their components are disclosed. In some embodiments, the devices may include at least one foil-microscreen assembly disposed between and secured to first and second end frames. The at least one foil-microscreen assembly may include at least one hydrogen-selective membrane and at least one microscreen structure including a non-porous planar sheet having a plurality of apertures forming a plurality of fluid passages. The planar sheet may include generally opposed planar surfaces configured to provide support to the permeate side. The plurality of fluid passages may extend between the opposed surfaces. The at least one hydrogen-selective membrane may be metallurgically bonded to the at least one microscreen structure.
Laser ablation methods for producing feedstock powder suitable for laser-based additive manufacturing
Methods and systems for producing feedstock powders, suitable for use in laser-based additive manufacturing, use laser ablation to vaporize a source material, which may be in bulk solid or solid coarse grain form. The source material is vaporized by a laser (or other focused energy source) in a vaporization chamber that is temperature controlled to provide a vertical thermal gradient. The vertical thermal gradient may be controlled to, in turn, control the nucleation, coagulation, and agglomeration of the vaporized molecules, enabling formation of microparticles that may then be used as feedstock powders in laser-based additive manufacturing. The produced feedstock powder particles may be of uniform composition, of uniform shape (e.g., substantially spherical), and of uniform phase or homogeneously mixed phases.
Laser weldable sterling alloy
A sterling silver chain and method of manufacturing a sterling silver chain comprising a plurality of chain links. Each of the chain links can comprise a sterling silver wire, the sterling silver wire comprising a first end and a second end. Each of the first end and the second end of each of the plurality of chain links can be joined together through a weld. Each of the plurality of chain links can comprise at least 92.5% by weight silver and at least 6.5% by weight tin.
Devices and methods for performing shear-assisted extrusion and extrusion processes
The present disclosure provides methods for preparing an extruded product from a solid billet. The methods can include providing an as-cast billet for extrusion; applying a simultaneous rotational shear and axial extrusion force to the as-cast billet to plasticize the as-cast billet; and extruding the plasticized as-cast billet with an extrusion die to form an extruded product. Methods for preparing extruded products from billets can also include: providing a billet for extrusion; while maintaining a majority of the billet below 100 C., applying a simultaneous rotational shear and axial extrusion force to one end of the billet to plasticize the one end of the billet; and extruding the plasticized one end of the billet with an extrusion die to form an extruded product. Methods for preparing an extruded product from a billet can also include providing a billet for extrusion; applying a simultaneous rotational shear and axial extrusion force to the billet to plasticize the billet; extruding the plasticized billet with an extrusion die to form an extruded product; and artificially aging the extruded product for less than the ASTM recommended amount of time.

Arc welding method, and method for inspecting welding strength of joint welded using arc welding method
An arc welding method melts and joins at least a part of a workpiece having a plurality of overlapping non-ferrous metal plates. The arc welding method includes forming a machined hole in a welded portion of the workpiece. The machined hole is a non-through-hole that penetrates a non-ferrous metal plate on an arc-radiation side, and reaches a non-ferrous metal plate on a side farthest from an arc welder to form a partial recess portion. The arc welding method further includes causing arc radiation from an opening side of the machined hole to melt and weld a back surface of the non-ferrous metal plate furthest from the workpiece without using a backing jig on an opposite side of the workpiece.
