Compression system for producing a high density compact product
A compression system includes a compression device and a controller. A treated material is pressed longitudinally through a compression chamber by simultaneously applying a lateral pressure and a two-dimensional cross-section compression which includes a pressure applied in a direction traverse to a direction of transport and a pressure applied in a direction parallel to the direction of transport. The controller controls the two-dimensional cross-section compression applied to the treated material such that, during compression, liquids in the treated material migrate to the outer surface of the treated material upon reaching the outlet orifice.
Peroxide Treated Metallocene-Based Polyolefins With Improved Melt Strength
Disclosed herein are ethylene-based polymers having low densities and narrow molecular weight distributions, but high melt strengths for blown film processing. Such polymers can be produced by peroxide-treating a metallocene-catalyzed resin.
Device and method for forming sheet-like rubber
The sheet-like rubber forming device has a die body which has an opening having a predetermined cross sectional shape, and a variable die lip which is arranged in a front side of the die body and can change the height of the opening. The variable die lip is constructed by a first movable body and a second movable body. The die lip control unit controls the variable die lip so as to drive the first movable body in an opening direction from a state in which the first movable body and the second movable body are closed when the forming is started, hold the positions of the first movable body and the second movable body after reaching a predetermined height, and drive the second movable body in a closing direction when the forming is finished.
Single and twin screw extruders with ultrasound horns for decrosslinking and devulcanization
Processes for decrosslinking crosslinked plastic and devulcanizing vulcanized rubber include advancing such materials through single screw or twin screw extruders including special ultrasonic treatment zones wherein threadless shaft (single screw) or shafts (twin screw) rotate under an ultrasonic horn having a distal end aligned with the shaft or shafts and being shaped complimentary thereto. Special arcuate (single screw) or double-arcuate ultrasonic treatment flow paths confine the materials to flow under the horn where the material is subjected to ultrasonic waves to decrosslink the material, in the case of crosslinked plastic, or devulcanize the material, in the case of vulcanized rubber, with the extrudate leaving the die as a continuous stream or rope as is typical of virgin plastic or rubber.
Method for forming stratified rubber article with variable cure rate
A method of forming a tread comprising two or more layers of rubber is described. The method includes the steps of: extruding a rubber compound through an extruder and a gear pump and mixing with an accelerant and then applying a continuous strip of rubber directly onto a tire building machine to form a first layer of rubber having a first cure rate; adjusting the amount of accelerant to obtain a second cure rate different than said first cure rate, and then applying a strip of rubber having a second cure rate onto the tire building machine, wherein one of the cure rates is faster than the other cure rate.
MICROLAYER COEXTRUSION FOR COMPOUNDING, PELLETIZING, AND MASTERBATCHES
The present disclosure generally relates to pelletizing and compounding extrusion die systems. In particular, the present disclosure relates to the cyclical extrusion of materials to generate small sized grain features, generally in the range of micro and nanosized grain features.
Screw elements with improved dispersing action and low energy input
The present invention relates to new screw elements for multi-screw extruders with pairs of co-rotating and fully wiping screws.
Batch mixer with plunger
A batch mixer is equipped with a plunger for pushing material from the batch mixer. The batch mixer includes a mixer tank structured to accommodate material. The mixer further includes a mixer head comprising at least one blade structured to blend the material within the mixer tank. The mixer further includes a plunger mechanism structured to push the blended material directly from the mixer tank.
PURGING AGENT AND METHOD OF PURGING USING THE SAME
The purging agent of the invention is for use in purging a resin to be purged which includes an ethylene/vinyl ester copolymer saponification resin, the purging agent being a hydrocarbon-based resin composition that contains a relatively large amount of at least one metal salt selected from the group consisting of alkali metal salts and salts of alkaline earth metals, the shear viscosity ratio as determined with the following equation satisfying a specific range.
Shear viscosity ratio=(X)/(Y)
[In the equation, (X) is shear viscosity (Pa.Math.s) at a temperature of 230 C. and a shear rate of 12.2 sec.sup.1, and (Y) is shear viscosity (Pa.Math.s) at a temperature of 230 C. and a shear rate of 1,824 sec.sup.1.]
