System and method for inspecting a rail
10836407 · 2020-11-17 · ·

A system and method for inspecting a rail is provided. The system includes an ultrasonic transducer positioned to emit an ultrasonic beam onto the rail and receive a refraction beam, the ultrasonic transducer being movable between a first position and a second position. A sensor is operable to measure an angle of a carriage, the carriage being positioned on the rail. A controller is operably coupled to the sensor, the controller having a processor that is responsive to executable computer instructions when executed on the processor to cause the ultrasonic transducer to move to receive refraction beam in response to the measured angle indicating a rail radius of less than a predetermined first threshold.

Railway track maintenance trolley

A railway track trolley includes a pair of carriages and a workhead mounted to at least one of the pair of carriages. The carriage is adapted to locate on one of a pair of railway track whereas the other carriage locates on the other railway track. The carriages are interconnected via a coupling assembly to permit independent sliding of the carriages relative to one another. In operation, at least one of the carriages is moved along the corresponding railway track wherein its associated workhead is adapted to implement work at that railway track.

Real-Time Track Asset Recognition and Position Determination

A system for real-time asset recognition and location includes an image capture and recognition system having a plurality of image capturing devices for capturing image data of an area surrounding a railroad track and a position determination system for determining a position of assets in the area surrounding the track. A processor analyzes captured image data and recognizes assets and correlates a determined position with each recognized asset. The system recognizes assets and determines positions of assets in real-time as the system is transported along a railroad track by a survey vehicle. The captured and analyzed data is stored to a data storage unit for immediate use in updating a railroad asset data base, subdivision files, or positive train control (PTC) files.
