20170142909 · 2017-05-25 ·

A container for effecting at least one non-lethal change in inherent properties of a non-human biological system, such as a plant or a fungus, under the influence of zero gravity, comprising a carrier plate configured to receive two capacitor plates of a plate capacitor, wherein the plates are situated parallel to one another and in each case perpendicularly on the carrier plate, at least one sample container arranged horizontally on the carrier plate, adjacent to each of the two capacitor plates and configured to receive the biological system, and an electromagnet arranged substantially half way between the capacitor plates and, when seen from the carrier plate, arranged horizontally above the at least one sample container. Additionally, a European modular cultivation system for use in the International Space Station comprises a centrifuge, wherein the container is received in the centrifuge.

Plant growing device

A plant growing device includes an envelope made of a vacuum formed film and having substantially planar first and second walls interconnected by a surrounding wall. A plant growing medium is enclosed by the envelope. The first and second walls each has a plurality of micro-holes, and a network of interconnected ribs that are indented from an outer surface of the first or second wall to define a plurality of flow guide channels. The second wall further has openings to receive plants. The first wall further has drain holes. The envelope has high air permeability due to the micro-holes while still possessing a relative high strength due to the network of ribs.

Carbon dioxide supplementation product with delayed activation control
09622421 · 2017-04-18 ·

A consumer product for supplementing carbon dioxide is provided with delayed activation control in the form of a clamp. A bag, having a top and a bottom seal and a filter, contains a mycelial mass prepared under sterile laboratory conditions using aseptic techniques. The bag may be selectively clamped at various locations on its exterior. During manufacturing, the mycelial mass is sealed away from the air exchange portal by the clamp. The manipulation delays the optimized carbon dioxide generation and extends the product shelf-life significantly. The fungi are utilized on-demand by removal of the clamp and carbon dioxide flows from the product. Consumers will place the product near indoor plants. The precise clamping method delays the expiration of the product for storage and shipping optimization. The clamp is relocated to the top of the bag in order to provide a hanger for the carbon dioxide generator above plant level.

20170094957 · 2017-04-06 ·

Methods for causing, enhancing, and/or expediting consumption of an article by at least one biodegradative living organism are disclosed. The methods include the use of at least one additional living organism that enhances and/or expedites consumption of the article by the at least one biodegradative living organism.

MECHANIZED CULTIVATION SYSTEM AND METHOD TO PRODUCE EDIBLE MUSHROOM
20170079213 · 2017-03-23 ·

A mechanized cultivation system for large scale production of various species of edible mushrooms with controlled CO.sub.2 and humidity and temperature. The system uses a main cultivation cabin which eliminates the need for humans to enter the cabin during cultivation. The produced mushrooms are sterilized and pasteurized inside the cultivation chamber.

Methods for Mushroom Cultivation
20170079214 · 2017-03-23 · ·

A method for cultivating mushrooms, comprising mixing culture material with an enzyme for degrading or converting cellulosic material; a method for improving the yield of mushrooms and/or biological efficiency of mushroom cultivation and an enzyme composition for mushroom cultivation and uses thereof.

METHOD FOR ARTIFICIAL CULTIVATION OF OPHIOCORDYCEPS SINENSIS FRUITING BODIES
20170067011 · 2017-03-09 · ·

A method for artificial cultivation of Ophiocordyceps sinensis fruiting bodies. The method comprises: inoculating Ophiocordyceps sinensis into a sterile rice medium, cultivating at 9-13 C. for 40-60 days, after the medium is covered with mycelia, performing low-temperature induction at 1-8 C. for 60-80 days to develop a fruiting body primordium, and transferring the cultivation to 11-16 C. till harvest of the fruiting bodies. The method provided by the present invention requires no low-oxygen environment, which can reduce cultivation cost; it only needs 3-4 months from induction to harvest of fruiting bodies; the rice medium for use has a low cost, which is suitable for commercial cultivation of Ophiocordyceps sinensis fruiting bodies.

Method for Producing Grown Materials and Products Made Thereby
20170049059 · 2017-02-23 · ·

The composite material is comprised of a substrate of discrete particles and a network of interconnected mycelia cells bonding the discrete particles together. The composite material is a made by inoculating a substrate of discrete particles and a nutrient material with a preselected fungus. The fungus digests the nutrient material over a period of time sufficient to grow hyphae and to allow the hyphae to form a network of interconnected mycelia cells through and around the discrete particles thereby bonding the discrete particles together to form a self-supporting composite material. In another embodiment, the fungus is allowed to grow as a fruiting body out of the substrate and within an enclosure to completely fill the enclosure to form a self-supporting structure.

Graze Harvesting of Mushrooms

A method and system for controlling harvesting of mushrooms from a bed during a mushroom graze harvest operation account for both mushroom separation and stagger, thereby providing for automatic and proper selection of which mushrooms in the bed are to be harvested in a given shift.
