PROCESS FOR PREPARING AN AQUEOUS DISPERSION OF PIGMENT CONTAINING PARTICLES
A process for preparing an aqueous dispersion of pigment particles is described. The pigment particle contains a pigment and an aminoplast resin which surrounds or embeds the pigment. The process includes (i) a step of subjecting an aqueous suspension of a pigment in the form of coarse particles to milling so that the coarse particles are comminuted in the presence of a polymeric dispersant to a particle diameter d(v 0.9) of below 1500 nm, as determined by laser diffraction; and (ii) a step of polycondensation of an aminoplast pre-condensate in the aqueous suspension of the comminuted particles of the pigment obtained in step (i) or during the milling of step (i). The polycondensation is performed in the presence of an acid catalyst at pH of below 5.5. The aqueous dispersion obtained by the process and the use of the aqueous dispersion for tinting waterborne liquid coating composition are also described.
CHLORINATED COPPER PHTHALOCYANINE PIGMENTS
It is an object of the present technology to overcome the disadvantages of conventional chlorination of a copper phthalocyanine which produces copper phthalocyanine, wherein the number of chlorines is less than than or equal to 4. The pigments described herein contain less chlorine than standard commercial grades of tetrachlorinated (or greater) copper phthalocyanine pigments while achieving similar color space, chromaticity, fastness properties, and color travel in automotive waterborne and solvent borne systems. The inventive pigments are more advantageous from a toxicity and environmental perspective, and allow the manufacturer to produce pigments in a safe and economical manner.
Universal pigment preparations for point-of-sale use
Subject matter are aqueous, low-VOC/SVOC universal pigment preparations comprising a pigment component, a water-soluble, anionic, surface-active additive from the group of the homo- and copolymers of ethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic or dicarboxylic acids, which may further comprise, in copolymerized form, vinyl monomers containing no acid function, and of the salts of these homo- and copolymers, the homo- and copolymers being at least partly esterified with a polyether alcohol or a derivative thereof, and comprising a phosphoric or phosphonic ester, and optionally customary additives. The aqueous pigment preparations are suitable for the coloring of inks, paints, and renders, especially in metering systems at the point of sale or in in-plant tinting systems.
OIL-SOLUBLE BEETROOT RED PIGMENT AND PREPARATION METHOD AND APPLICATION THEREOF
The present invention belongs to the field of natural pigment modification and specifically relates to an oil-soluble beetroot red pigment, its preparation method and application. An aqueous solution containing beetroot red pigment and phospholipids is added to an aqueous solution containing water-soluble proteins and/or water-soluble peptides, and the mixture is dried to obtain an oil-soluble beetroot red pigment composite powder. The powder is subjected to low-temperature ultra-fine grinding to produce ultra-fine oil-soluble beetroot red pigment powder. Finally, the ultra-fine powder is added to vegetable oil and processed through a ball mill-colloid mill cycle to obtain the oil-soluble beetroot red pigment. The oil-soluble beetroot red pigment requires no chemical modification and contains no synthetic emulsifiers or additives. The materials used are natural and safe, improving the light stability and thermal stability of beetroot red pigment, expanding its application scope, and providing a viable alternative to industrially synthesized oil-soluble pigments.
Preparation of Pigment Red 149
The invention provides a process for preparing N,N-di(3,5-dimethylphenyl)perylene bis(dicarboximide), and other pigments having modified properties, by reaction of perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride with 3,5-dimethylaniline, or a mixture of 3,5-dimethyl aniline and at least one other primary amine, in the presence of a secondary amine or tertiary amine as catalyst, wherein the reaction occurs in an aqueous reaction medium and in the presence of added seed crystals of N,N-di(3,5-dimethylphenyl) perylenebis(dicarboximide), such that the aqueous medium is present at the beginning of the reaction.
Organic pigment composition for color filters, method for producing same, and color filter
Provided is an organic pigment composition for color filters, which can be used preferably for a color filter that allows to produce a liquid crystal display device which has excellent heat resistance, a brighter display screen, and accordingly higher brightness; a method for producing the same; and a color filter which includes the organic pigment composition for color filters. The color filter has higher heat resistance by using the organic pigment composition for color filters which includes a phthalocyanine pigment and a pigment derivative in which the ratio of a multi-substituted phthalimide alkyl group to the whole amount of the pigment derivative is limited.
Hybrid pigments and methods of making same
Provided herein are hybrid pigments and methods of making the same. The hybrid pigments include a natural polyamide substrate and an acid dye disposed on the natural polyamide substrate. The hybrid pigments are biodegradable, compostable, or both, and provide an environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic polymer particle-based pigments.
SECURITY PIGMENT, LUMINESCENT POLYMER RESIN AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
The invention relates to a pigment particle for security applications, comprising a duromer matrix and a plurality of core particles of a thermoplastic polymer with a feature substance dissolved in the core particles embedded therein, wherein the feature substance is an organic or metalorganic substance. The invention further relates to a method for producing security pigments, for example luminescent printing pigments, by means of incorporation into a duromer matrix of thermoplastic polymer particles in which the luminescent illuminant is present respectively in dissolved form.
