Hourglass Autorack Car Interior
According to some embodiments, an autorack railcar comprises first and second ends, and first and second longitudinal sides disposed between the first and second ends. The longitudinal sides comprise a plurality of side posts. The railcar further comprises a rack for transporting vehicles enclosed by the ends and sides. A first width of the railcar between the longitudinal sides proximate a center of the railcar comprises a first width value. A second width of the railcar between the longitudinal sides between the center of the railcar and either the first or second ends comprises a second width value greater than the first width value. The side posts positioned within the second width of the railcar have a width that is less than a width of the side posts positioned within the first width of the railcar.
Side wall component of railway vehicle, and railway vehicle
Some embodiments of the present disclosure provide a side wall component of a railway vehicle, and a railway vehicle. The side wall component of a railway vehicle includes: a side wall, including a side wall body; and a plurality of side wall upright columns, connected with the side wall body respectively, the plurality of side wall upright columns being provided along a length direction of the side wall body at an interval, wherein an auxiliary air duct of a railway vehicle is formed between at least two of the plurality of side wall upright columns and the side wall body in the length direction of the side wall body. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, an auxiliary air duct of a railway vehicle is directly formed on a side wall, so that the railway vehicle is compact in structure.

Covered hopper car
A covered hopper railroad freight car having a car body whose opposite longitudinal sides include generally flat, parallel, substantially vertical upper side wall portions free from outwardly protruding structural strength members. A top chord of each of the side walls of the car is defined by a pair of parallel bend lines extending longitudinally along the upper margin of each side wall, and a roof is welded to the top chords of the side walls.

Railroad car having multiple penetration resistant and protective structures
A railroad car including a plurality of penetration resistant and protective structures including a penetration resistant and protective underframe, penetration resistant and protective first end, second end, and center bulkheads, penetration resistant and protective first, second, third, and fourth side walls, and protective first and second roof hatches, all configured to protect internal cylinder assemblies, the pipes that communicate the gas from the cylinders of the cylinder assemblies, and the safety critical valves, regulators, and other equipment connected to such cylinders and pipes of the railroad car in an accident (such as a derailment, crash and/or roll-over).

Railroad gondola car structure
A gondola car has a body for lading carried on an underframe. The underframe includes a center sill and cross-bearers. The car has deep side beams having top chords, side sills, and side sheets. The lower portion of the car includes tubs that seat between the cross-bearers. The car may have an internal volume of more than 8000 cu. ft. The car may have rotary dump claw sockets. The car has opposed internal and external stiffeners aligned at the longitudinal stations of the cross-bearers. The internal stiffeners may be triangular cantilevers extending upwardly inside the side sheets. The side sheet lies intermediate the stiffeners and their flanges. The top chords may be wider in cross-section than the side sills. The side sills may define torque tubes that co-operate with the sidewall stiffeners and the top chords to resist lateral deflection. The car may include a false deck, or dog-house at one end to accommodate the brake reservoir and brake valve, such that the car is longitudinally asymmetric.
