Assistive graphical user interface for preserving document layout while improving the document readability

Technologies are described herein for providing an assistive graphical user interface for preserving document layout while improving readability, such as for persons with dyslexia or another type of reading disability. A document including one or more lines of text can be edited in first and second editing modes. When a request is received to edit the document in the second editing mode, the width of the lines when displayed using a non-assistive font is computed. The width of the lines when displayed using an assistive font, such as a font configured for use by persons with dyslexia, is also computed. A ratio between the width of the lines when displayed using the non-assistive font and the width of the lines when displayed using the assistive font is also computed. The width of the page is then expanded based upon the ratio and the lines are displayed using the assistive font.

Auto-scrolling input in a dual-display computing device

In some implementations, a computing device may include a first display device and a second display device that are both touch sensitive devices. An auto-scroll module executing on the computing device may create an input area on at least one of the first display device or the second display device based on an orientation of the computing device. The auto-scroll module may automatically scroll the input area as input is received in the input area. The automatic scrolling may include removing a portion of the input being displayed in the input area, recognizing text in the portion of the input, and displaying the text in a text area of a window associated with an application.

Automatic Determination of Display Device Functionality

Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for automatically determining the functionality and capabilities of electronic components. Some embodiments operate by transmitting a command to the display device in question (sometimes called the device under testDUTherein) and monitoring the device. Then, it is determined whether an action by the display device was one of a set of proper responses to the command. If the action was proper, then it is determined that the display device supports the command set associated with the command. The command set may be the Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) set, although this disclosure is not limited to that example.

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving, from a client device that corresponds to a user of an online social network, an input that comprises free-form text; determining, through application of natural-language processing of the free-form text, an affinity declaration for an object associated with the online social network; determining an affinity coefficient between respective user and the object; adjusting the determined affinity coefficient based on social-networking information of the user, wherein the social-networking information reinforces or reduces the determined affinity coefficient; and upon determining that the determined affinity coefficient is above a threshold coefficient, creating or modifying an edge connection in a social graph between a user node corresponding to the user and a concept node corresponding to the object.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RECOGNIZING SLIDE

Embodiments of the present application disclose a method and an apparatus for identifying a slide, which are applied to an electronic device. The method comprises: obtaining file source code of a slide to be identified (S101); obtaining feature information of objects in the slide to be identified from the file source code (S102); and determining a layout of the slide to be identified based on the obtained feature information (S103). In the present application, the electronic device can automatically obtain the feature information of the objects in the slide to be identified from the file source code of the slide. Therefore, compared to manual identification, the efficiency and accuracy of identifying the layout of the slide are significantly improved. Moreover, this makes it possible to perform subsequent automatic processes on the slide based on the layout of the slide.

Text display control apparatus and method for controlling text to be displayed

A text display control apparatus includes a text determination unit that determines whether an input text can be displayed within the width of a text display area, a space selection unit that, if the text cannot be displayed within the width of the text display area, sequentially selects spaces from an end of the text to a beginning, a partial text determination unit that determines whether a part of the text before a selected space can be displayed within the width of the text display area, and a newline insertion unit that, if the part of the text before the space can be displayed within the width of the text display area, inserts a newline character into the text at the space. If the input text cannot be displayed within the width of the text display area, a new line automatically starts in the text at the space.

Template bootstrapping for domain-adaptable natural language generation

The present invention relates to a system and method for bootstrapping templates for use in natural language sentence generation. More specifically, the present invention relates to identifying a set of candidate sentences from a large corpus based on a set of original templates by using a similarity measure. The set of candidate sentences are then processed or cleaned to generate a set of templates for use in natural language sentence generation.

Summarization and communication of large data sets

Techniques for providing information about large data sets may be provided. For example, a summary of the data sets and of patterns between the data sets may be presented. Traffic associated with a network-based resource that includes a number of documents may be an example of large data sets. The traffic may be analyzed and traffic patterns may be determined. A structure may be generated based on the traffic patterns and may use nodes to represent the documents. Further, a visualization of the structure may be presented. The visualization may include recursive clusters of the nodes, where the clusters may be labeled based on the respective clustered nodes.

CONTEXTUAL FIT DETERMINATION FOR PROPOSED MESSAGES

Determining whether a proposed message contextually fits a messaging session. A method obtains a proposed message to be sent in a messaging session between users of a messaging service. The method identifies a context of the proposed message. The method determines whether the proposed message contextually fits the messaging session based on characteristics of an expected response to the proposed message, the characteristics of the expected response being based on patterns of communication between the users. The method also performs processing based on whether the proposed message contextually fits the messaging session.
