COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING A FLUOROOLEFIN
The present invention relates to compositions for use in refrigeration, air-conditioning, and heat pump systems wherein the composition comprises a fluoroolefin and at least one other component. The compositions of the present invention are useful in processes for producing cooling or heat, as heat transfer fluids, foam blowing agents, aerosol propellants, and fire suppression and fire extinguishing agents.
Fire suppression biodegradable suspension forming compositions
A fire suppression composition includes starch, a pseudo-plastic, high yield, suspending agent, paraffin or olefin, and a neutralizer.
Fluorinated olefins as working fluids and methods of using same
A working fluid that includes a fluorinated olefin compound represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR00001##
NOSA MD composition and method of manufacture
Disclosed herein is a method of making a foaming agent by preparing a liquid maltodextrin solution by dissolving maltodextrin in a solvent; combining the liquid maltodextrin solution with an octenyl succinic anhydride (OSA) solution to form a biphasic maltodextrin-OSA mixture; agitating the biphasic maltodextrin-OSA mixture until homogenous creating a homogenous solution; adjusting the pH of the homogenous solution to a predetermined threshold to yield the foaming agent; and adding glycerol to the foaming agent to form a shelf stable foaming agent.
Foam fire extinguishing agent
The present invention provides a foam fire extinguishing agent that can fulfill predetermined performances without containing any fluorine-based compounds. The foam fire extinguishing agent of die present invention is characterized by containing 0.2 to 3.0% by mass of cationic surfactant, 0.2 to 5.0 by mass of anionic surfactant and water for a total of 100% by mass.
Fire-fighting foam concentrate
An aqueous concentrate, which can be diluted with an aqueous diluent to form a foam precursor composition, is provided. The foam precursor composition may be aerated to form a firefighting foam. The present aqueous firefighting concentrates include a surfactant component, which includes one or more of an anionic surfactant, a zwitterionic surfactant and a nonionic surfactant and an aliphatic alcohol-based component. The aliphatic alcohol-based component typically includes at least two alcohols and/or alcohol ethoxylates. The aqueous concentrates contain a substantial amount of water and typically are substantially free of any fluorinated compound.
Fire-fighting foam concentrate
A method of fighting a fire, the method includes aerating a firefighting foam composition to form an areated firefighting foam; administering the aerated firefighting foam to a fire or applying the aerated firefighting foam to a surface of a volatile flammable liquid; wherein: the firefighting foam composition includes a sugar component comprising a monosaccharide sugar, a sugar alcohol, or a combination thereof; a polysaccharide thickener; a surfactant component comprising an anionic surfactant, a zwitterionic surfactant or a mixture of any two or more thereof; a water-miscible organic solvent; and at least about 30 wt. % water.
Fire-fighting foam composition
A method of fighting a fire includes aerating a firefighting foam composition to form an aerated firefighting foam; administering the aerated firefighting foam to a fire or applying the aerated firefighting foam to a surface of a volatile flammable liquid; wherein: the firefighting foam composition includes a sugar component that includes a monosaccharide sugar and/or a sugar alcohol; an anionic surfactant; a zwitterionic surfactant; an organic solvent including glycol ether and/or glycol solvent; a polysaccharide thickener; and at least about 40 wt. % water; wherein the composition is substantially free of any amine oxide or nonionic surfactants; and the composition is substantially free of fluorinated compounds.
