The method can also include coupling a substantially cylindrical die outlet to a second end of the outlet adaptor, and substantially continuously extruding a polymer through the outlet adaptor into the die outlet to create the cylindrical foam article with a natural skin formed about a perimeter of the cylindrical foam article.

Nozzle for extruding a preform tube
An extrusion nozzle for making tubular preforms has a mandrel extending along a vertical axis, an annular and stationary nozzle body spacedly radially surrounding the mandrel, and a holding ring having an upper end axially slidable in the nozzle body, braced axially downwardly against the nozzle body, and having a lower end spaced radially inward from shiftable limitedly radially relative to the nozzle body. A nozzle ring has an upper end axially slidable in the holding ring, is braced axially downwardly against the nozzle body, and has a radially deflectable lower end forming an annular extrusion gap with the mandrel. A first positioner engages the lower end of nozzle ring and is operable to radially deflect this lower end. A second positioner engages radially with the lower end of the holding ring or with the nozzle ring for radially deflecting same.
Paper-like film and process for making it
A micro-voided film comprising high density polyethylene having a molecular weight of at least about 200,000, and low aspect ratio filler having a mean particle size from about 1 to about 25 microns. The film has a thickness of from about 0.1 to about 20 mils and a void fraction of from about 0.60 to about 0.75. The micro-voided film is made by a process comprising extruding the composition into a film having a thickness of from about 20 to about 200 mils, and orienting the extruded film using a high stalk, blown film process. The process produces a stabilized high stalk for increasing the production rate of blown, high molecular weight polyethylene, while increasing the film's physical and mechanical properties. The high stalk can be stabilized by application of high velocity, low volume flow rate of air over the interior and exterior surfaces of the extruded film.

A method for controlling the temperature of a polymer melt in an extrusion tool includes flowing the polymer melt via at least one flow channel from an input to an output and around at least one temperature-control element in the at least one flow channel. The temperature control element includes a plurality of temperature control units. The temperature of the polymer melt flowing around the temperature-control element is controlled by individually controlling each of the temperature-control units so as to vary a degree of temperature control of the temperature-control element such that a degree of temperature control is controllable to be the same or different at locations throughout the temperature control-element.

In a method for manufacturing a cylindrical bonded magnet, a molding space having a cylindrical shape is filled with a bonded magnet composition containing a magnetic material and a resin. The magnetic material disposed in the molding space is magnetically oriented using an orientation magnet. The orientation magnet includes a first permanent magnet and a second permanent magnet. The first and second permanent magnets are disposed such that same poles are opposite each other in the axial direction.
CYLINDRICAL EXTRUDING DIE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SEAMLESS TUBE
A method for producing an electrically conductive seamless tube includes (1) preparing an electrically conductive resin composition containing a thermoplastic resin and an electrically conductive filler, (2) preparing a cylindrical extruding die including a cylindrical slit, at least one circumferential distribution channel communicating with the slit and distributing the resin composition that is plasticized in a circumferential direction of the slit, and at least one lead-in path that leads the plasticized resin composition into the circumferential distribution channel, the lead-in path containing a line mixer; (3) introducing the plasticized resin composition into the lead-in path toward the circumferential distribution channel; (4) introducing the plasticized resin composition flowing through the lead-in path into the circumferential distribution channel toward the slit; and (5) introducing the resin composition flowing through the circumferential distribution channel into the slit and extruding the resin composition from an outlet of the slit into a cylindrical shape.
