ROLLING-ELEMENT BEARING UNIT

A roller bearing unit for rail vehicles, having an inner bearing ring, an outer bearing ring, rolling elements arranged between the bearing rings, and at least one retainer element. The inner bearing ring and the retainer element are configured to be arranged on an axle. The retainer element is arranged radially between an axial end of the inner bearing ring and the axle, and radially between a contact part lying against the end face of the inner bearing ring, and the axle. The retainer element has at least one sealing element sealing the inner bearing ring.

A leveling valve includes an actuator arm that rotates due to a restoring force of a buffer spring, and a connecting valve that is opened by the actuator arm against air pressure. The connecting valve includes a first valve body that is opened by being pressed by the actuator arm, a second valve body from/on which the first valve body is separated/seated, a sleeve from/on which the second valve body is separated/seated, and an engaging portion that is provided to the second valve body and engages with the first valve body when the first valve body has moved by a predetermined distance after the first valve body is opened. A pressure receiving area of the second valve body is larger than a pressure receiving area of the first valve body.

Universal fit backing ring assembly for railway axles

A backing ring assembly is for railway axles and includes a backing ring and an annular insert having L-shaped axial cross sections. The insert includes a sleeve portion fitted to a radially outer cylindrical surface of the backing ring, which delimits a first axial section thereof. The annular insert sleeve portion includes first and second axial sections hingedly connected by an intermediate, reduced thickness section designed to form a plastic hinge. The first axial section of the sleeve portion projects axially from the first section of the backing ring, which is provided with an annular projection designed to induce elastic deformation of the reduced thickness section to ensure that the second axial section of the sleeve portion is always coupled with the cylindrical outer surface of the backing ring first axial section by an interference fit.

RAILCAR ADAPTER FOR CONNECTING A RAILCAR BODY TO A BEARING
20170137040 · 2017-05-18 · ·

A railcar adapter for connecting a railcar body to a bearing is provided. The railcar adapter includes an adapter body having two lateral channels each delimited by a pair of opposed lugs adapted to cooperate with the railcar body, an inner surface acting as a bearing seat for the bearing and an outer surface in radial contact with the railcar body. The inner surface includes at least one central groove located on a first axis of symmetry of the railcar adapter emerging in each lateral channel. The inner surface further provides a second central groove located on a second symmetry axis of the railcar adapter, perpendicular to the first symmetry axis.

Universal backing ring

Disclosed is a one-piece, integrally formed universal backing ring having an integrally formed, one piece annular structure with a center opening configured to be translated over a journal of a railcar axle and engage a dust guard and a dust guard fillet of the railcar axle. The annular structure includes an inner contoured surface having a profile that is contoured for a tight surface fit with a complementary surface of the dust guard fillet. The annular structure also includes a dust guard lip which projects over the dust guard fillet and engages the dust guard. The dust guard lip has a length extending generally parallel with an axis of the annular structure, and is configured to provide a mechanical interference fit of the dust guard lip with the dust guard of 0.052-0.1875 inches with a maximum diameter of the dust guard for each Class of railcar axle.
