Multifunctional additive compounds
The present disclosure generally relates to a multifunctional additive obtained from the reaction of: (a) an intermediate obtained from the reaction of maleic anhydride and a polyoxyalkylene monoamine; and (b) an amine compound comprising a primary amine group and/or a secondary amine group and its use in a variety of applications, including, but not limited to: as a corrosion inhibitor or friction modifier in aqueous and non-aqueous systems; in fuel deposit control agents; as a dispersant in pigment, asphalt and cement compositions; and as a detergent.
Additive mixture
The present invention relates to new additive mixtures, processes for the production thereof and the use thereof for turbine oils.
Water-based lubricating grease compositions and methods for using the same
A water-based lubricating grease composition includes at least 40 wt % water; a salt-based thickener; a polymer-based thickener; and optionally, an inorganic solid-based thickener. A process for preparing the water-based lubricating grease composition may include blending a suitable amount of water with a salt-based thickener to provide a thickened water-based grease, wherein the salt-based thickener is obtained from contacting a base with a fat; and adding a polymer-based thickener to the thickened water-based grease.
Polyalkylene glycol compound
A polyalkylene glycol-based compound of formula (1): ##STR00001##
may be one in which R.sup.1 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 32 carbon atoms, a monovalent aromatic hydrocarbon group having 6 to 42 ring carbon atoms, a monovalent acyl group having 2 to 32 carbon atoms, or a monovalent oxygen-containing hydrocarbon group having 2 to 32 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 32 carbon atoms, a monovalent aromatic hydrocarbon group having 6 to 42 ring carbon atoms, a monovalent acyl group having 2 to 32 carbon atoms, a monovalent oxygen-containing hydrocarbon group having 2 to 32 carbon atoms, or a hydrogen atom; R.sup.3 is a divalent hydrocarbon group having 4 carbon atoms; R.sup.4 is a divalent hydrocarbon group having 2 or 3 carbon atoms; m and n are respectively numbers between 1 and 40 and 0 and 20; and m/(m+n)0.5.
Low-ash lubricating compositions
This disclosure describes low-ash lubricating composition achieving the same or better performance of higher ash compositions by including selected antiwear system with ashless phosphorus-containing antiwear compounds and select detergent systems matching TBN contributions to the antiwear systems.
Succinimide dispersants post-treated with aromatic glycidyl ethers that exhibit good soot handling performance
A lubricating oil composition is described. The composition includes a base oil, a first succinimide dispersant composition comprising a reaction product of a hydrocarbyl succinimide and an aromatic glycidyl ether having a structure: ##STR00001##
wherein R.sub.1 is an aryl or alkaryl group having 4 to 20 carbon atoms, and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, or an aryl group; and a second succinimide dispersant.
