Racket stringing apparatus with cross string aid
10625123 · 2020-04-21 ·

A first improvement to racket stringing machines, for the sport racquets in badminton, tennis, racquetball, and squash/etc. sports, includes a tensioning of two opposite strings with one string tensioning mechanism. A movable base for the racket mounting mechanism is used to link the two ends of tensioning mechanism together and achieve the object to string two strings with one action of string tensioning mechanism. A second improvement is specific for the drop weight tensioning method and includes a moving of the support frame of the drop weight, instead of the rotating the drop weight. A third improvement includes a cross-stringing aid for weaving the cross string during the stringing process. Each of these improvements, either alone or together, are believed to speed up the stringing process so that it is much faster than convention stringing equipment.

Apparatus and method for stringing a lacrosse head

A robotic manipulator is used to control the forces and angles applied on the strings during stringing of a lacrosse head. Precise string lengths may be implemented for certain features of the pocket. In some embodiments, the manipulator attaches the pocket to a lacrosse head and produces a strung head which has precise ratios of tension when comparing various strings within the pocket. One or more robot arms with end effectors such as grippers may be used. The forces used when tying each knot can be consistent throughout the pocket, or vary according to which particular knot is being tied. The tension of shooting strings and/or runners may be finely tuned in some embodiments.

A down-pressed clamp base includes: a main body having a space and a passage in communication with the space via a connection perforation; a transmission member fitted in the connection perforation; a leverage mechanism including a lever and a link, the link being pivotally connected with the lever and positioned in the passage, a free end of the link being directed to the transmission member; a fastening mechanism disposed in the space; and a string holding mechanism disposed on the main body for holding a racket string. When pressing down the leverage mechanism, the clamp base is fixed on the racket stringer in an operation mode meeting ergonomics. When the leverage mechanism is pressed down, the action forces of the lever, the link and the transmission member fall on the same straight line, whereby the clamp base is fixed on the racket stringer by a fixed fastening force.

The present invention is directed at string tensioning system for use in racket stringing machines. The system produces accurate and consistent string tensions, requires minimum maintenance, works with a weak current source, such as a battery, and provides quick adjustment options, all achieved in a low-cost manner. The system may comprise a crank, a control module, a force sensor, and a brake mechanism. The system may further comprise an electric tensioning mechanism. The present invention is further directed at a string tensioning method. The method may comprise: fixing the first end of a racket string to a string holder of the string tensioning system, manually tensioning the racket string using a crank, and, in some embodiments, automatic tensioning of the racket string by an electric tensioning mechanism.
