Method of making a grease thickener and the thickener made by the method
A continuous process for producing a polyurea concentrate or powder. The process includes combing at least one amine and an isocayante in the presence of a liquid diluent or a base oil in a rotor stator mixer. The concentrate comprises a polyurea in a base oil wherein the concentration of from about 20 weight percent to about 50, or 40 or 35 or 30 weight percent of polyurea based on total weight of grease thickener. The powder has particle size of 2 to 400 microns. This concentrate or powder can then be formulated by grease manufacturers to the desired final properties without the need for handling of the isocyanate and amine raw materials.
Grease composition, machine component, and starter overrunning clutch
A silicone grease composition is disclosed. The grease composition contains a silicone oil and zinc dialkyldithiocarbamate as an extreme-pressure additive. The grease composition contains substantially no zinc dialkyldithiophosphate. The grease composition achieves high friction characteristics and wear characteristics. A method for transmitting torque of a clutch or a torque limiter mechanism is also disclosed. Moreover, a method for producing a clutch or a torque limiter mechanism is disclosed. The methods utilize the aforementioned grease composition.
Lubricant composition and rolling bearing having same sealed therein
The rolling bearing of the present invention is lubricated with a lubricant composition which contains a fatty acid metal salt, a metal dithiocarbamate, a phosphorous-type additive, and a basic additive, and which has a total acid value of 3.7 mgKOH/g or more. The rolling bearing makes it possible to further improve anti-fretting performance, and to reduce a decrease in fretting resistance even when used under the circumstance that fluorine-type grease penetrates into the bearing using urea-type grease.
Lubricant thickener systems from modified tall oil fatty acids, lubricating compositions, and associated methods
The present disclosure provides a soap thickener and methods of making the same. The soap thickener includes a metal soap of a carboxylic acid composition in a base oil, wherein the carboxylic acid composition includes a modified fatty acid composition prepared by performing a pericyclic reaction between an unsaturated small molecule and a fatty acid mixture. The present disclosure further provides lubricating compositions that include the soap thickener of the present disclosure and methods of preparing the same.
Nano memory device
A non-volatile memory circuit in embodiments of the present invention may have one or more of the following features: (a) a logic source, and (b) a semi-conductive device being electrically coupled to the logic source, having a first terminal, a second terminal and a nano-grease with significantly reduced amount of carbon nanotube loading located between the first and second terminal, wherein the nano-grease exhibits non-volatile memory characteristics.
Grease composition
A grease composition may be used for speed reducers and speed increasers, being excellent in both torque transmission efficiency and leak prevention performance. The grease composition may contain a base oil (A) and a urea-based thickener (B), which is used for speed reducers and speed increasers, wherein the particles containing the urea-based thickener (B) in the grease composition satisfy the following requirement (I). Requirement (I): the area-based arithmetic average particle diameter of the particles is 2.0 μm or less, as measured by a laser diffraction/scattering method.
Photoluminescent lubricating grease composition, photoluminescent material and the preparation methods thereof
A silole derivative is of formula (I): ##STR00001## each of the groups in the above formula is defined as those in the description. The silole derivative of formula (I) has aggregation-induced emission performance, and is particularly applicable in luminescent parts and devices, fluorescent probes, biological imaging, lubricating oils and greases. A lubricating grease composition has photoluminescence performance, as well as one or more of advantageous anti-oxidation properties, anti-wear properties, extreme pressure properties and anti-rust properties. It is applicable in many mechanical equipment in electrical industry, metallurgical industry, food industry, paper industry, automobile industry and aircraft industry.
Petrolatum substitution preparation
There is provided a petrolatum substitute. The petrolatum substitute preparation comprises 1-20 wt % of at least one oil thickening agent, 7-40 wt % of at least one structuring agent, 0.5-10 wt % of at least one phytosterol or ester thereof, and 30-92 wt % of at least one emollient, wherein the preparation has a melting point of 35? C. or more. The petrolatum substitute preparation can be used in essentially all applications where petrolatum is used today. The substitute can be made renewable and the use of over-exploited natural products is minimized. The preparation is less irritant and has excellent moisture barrier properties when applied to human skin. Further it is less energy consuming to manufacture.
