Universal aligning adaptor system and methods
11666419 · 2023-06-06 ·

A system for dental implant restoration is provided. It includes universal aligning adaptors and prosthetic components having co-operable indices, which together form a translational, integrating system which aligns, synchronizes, and references the prosthetic components about an implant's central axis of rotation. Rotation of an adaptor about a prosthetic component, with its reference point becoming aligned to a predetermined reference point on the prosthetic component, followed by the rotation of the adaptor/prosthetic component assembly about the implant, situates the prosthetic component in a predetermined position such that all other prosthetic components become synchronized to the adaptor's reference point. The prosthetic component is mechanical for clinical or lab bench use, or is virtual for restoration design in a software program, prior to milling prosthetic abutments or devices. Abutments, healing caps and screw access holes are realigned to preferred positions and synchronized with minimal deviation from the ideal direction.

LOW-DOSE X-RAY IMAGING SYSTEM
20170325768 · 2017-11-16 ·

A back illuminated sensor preferably is included as a collector component of a detector for use in intraoral and extraoral 2D and 3D dental radiography, positron emission tomography (PET) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). The disclosed imaging method includes one or more intraoral or extraoral emitters for emitting a low-dose gamma ray or x-ray beam through a dental examination area; and one or more intraoral or extraoral detectors for receiving the beam, each detector including a back illuminated sensor. Within the detector, the beam preferably is converted into light and then focused and collected at a photocathode layer without passing through the wiring layer of the back illuminated sensor.

A hand-grip type oral X-ray device having an alignment function according to an embodiment includes an X-ray tube configured to generate and emit X-rays, an X-ray receiver including a first gyro-sensor and a first communication module, having, at a corner thereof, a magnet configured to generate a magnetic force, and configured to receive the X-rays generated from the X-ray tube to acquire X-ray data about an object in the oral cavity, and a handle including a rod-shaped grip operable by the hand of a user and an extension arm connecting the X-ray receiver and the grip to each other, and coupled to the X-ray receiver.

Identification of intraoral areas of interest

A method for distinguishing between types of intraoral areas of interest (AOIs) includes receiving or generating a first 3D model comprising teeth; receiving or generating a second 3D model comprising the teeth; comparing the first 3D model to the second 3D model; determining a difference between the first 3D model and the second 3D model at a dental site comprising a tooth; determining an intraoral AOI that is associated with the difference; determining whether the difference comprises a first type of change indicative of a first type of intraoral AOI or a second type of change indicative of a second type of intraoral AOI; and responsive to determining that the difference comprises the first type of change, determining that the intraoral AOI is the first type of intraoral AOI and generating an indicator of the first type of intraoral AOI for the tooth.

DENTAL IMAGING WITH PHOTON-COUNTING DETECTOR

An extra-oral dental imaging apparatus for obtaining an image from a patient has a radiation source; a first digital imaging sensor that provides, for each of a plurality of image pixels, at least a first digital value according to a count of received photons that exceed at least a first energy threshold; a mount that supports the radiation source and the first digital imaging sensor on opposite sides of the patient's head; a computer in signal communication with the digital imaging sensor for acquiring a first two-dimensional image from the first digital imaging sensor; and a second digital imaging sensor that is alternately switched into place by the mount and that provides image data according to received radiation.
