The body can include a sole portion with two or more slots extending upwardly into the body through the sole portion into a cavity behind a face portion. A damper can be included in the cavity and in contact with a rear surface of the face portion. The club head can have a maximum CT proximate to the ideal striking location and a CT dropoff of no more than 110 ?s at a point located between a first and second scoreline proximate to the sole portion. The club head can also have a CG along the y-axis (CG-y) between 0.25 mm and 20 mm and a CG along a positive z-up axis (CG-z) between 12 mm and 25 mm.

Weighted iron set

The present invention is direct to a set of golf clubs comprising long irons, mid-irons and short irons. The invention contemplates the use of titanium or steel for the main body portion and significant tungsten weight members coupled to at least the toe and a heel weight member coupled in a hosel cavity.

Golf club set

A golf club set includes at least one first golf club whose loft angle is not less than 46 degrees and less than 56 degrees, and at least one second golf club whose loft angle is not less than 56 degrees and less than 60 degrees. The first and second golf clubs each comprise a face provided with score lines each formed by a groove having a groove bottom and a pair of opposite grooves walls which are inclined at an inclination angle with respect to a normal direction to the face so that the groove width between the opposite grooves walls is increased from the groove bottom toward the face. The inclination angle of the groove walls of the score lines of the first golf club is in the range from 28 to 42 degrees. The inclination angle of the groove walls of the score lines of the second golf club is in the range from 23 to 37 degrees and smaller than that of the first golf club.

A system of interchangeable club heads sharing one or more shafts and golf bag for carrying the club heads and one or more shafts. The club heads contain a shaft segment to set club length and a coupler to interconnect to the shaft and grip. The shaft contains an opposite gender coupler. The system is very lightweight and much more portable than a conventional set of golf clubs. It also creates the opportunity for players to match club heads with shafts with differing performance characteristics. Additionally, it solves a problem for golfers using long shafts on putters. These long shafts can now be disassembled for storage and transport. A ramp on the circumference of one end of a pullback sleeve works in conjunction with a post on a grip end fitting to more tightly couple the club head end to a shaft.

A golf club head includes a body having a heel portion, a toe portion, a sole portion, and an outer surface, a strikeface having a geometric center, a head center of gravity, and a weight member including a weight pad. The weight member is configured to be repositionable by the user to a first position or a second position. The club head having the weight member in the first position shifts the head center of gravity toward the strikeface, and the club head having the weight member in the second position shifts the head center of gravity away from the strikeface.

GOLF CLUB HEADS AND METHODS TO MANUFACTURE GOLF CLUB HEADS

Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may have a body portion having a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a sole portion, a front portion, a lead edge portion, a back portion, and an interior cavity. The golf club head may also have a polymer material partially or entirely filling the interior cavity. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.

A shim or badge is affixed to a golf club body to produce a cap-back iron, giving the appearance of a hollow-body iron. In this way, the golf club can be manufactured with the performance benefits of a game improvement iron, while providing the appearance of a blade, player's iron, and/or a hollow-body iron. For example, by using a lightweight and rigid shim or badge to close a cavity opening and extend into the toe portion in the golf club body, the golf club head can provide increased stiffness in the topline, while lowering CG. Various shim or badge arrangements and materials can be used, and a filler material and/or damper can be included within the cavity to improve sound and feel, while minimizing loss in COR.

Golf club head and method of manufacture

A customer directed golf club head manufacturing system including a self-service kiosk configured to transform a club head blank into a finished club head based upon input of a user. The self-service kiosk including a plurality of club head blanks, a kiosk control system, a user input system, and a machining system. The kiosk control system configured to prompt the user to select a plurality of predefined options that influence the configuration of the finished club head. The kiosk control system receives the user selected predefined options, identifies at least one user specific club head blank from the plurality of club head blanks that meets the requirements of the user selected predefined options, creates machining instructions, and transmits the machining instructions to the machining system to machine at least a portion of the user specific club head blank in accordance with the machining instructions to create the finished club head.
