WOUND AND THERAPY COMPRESS AND DRESSING

A method of providing moisture therapy to a subject by applying a moist therapy compress against a treated body portion. The moist therapy compress includes a fluid-permeable shell, a flexible backing fastened to the shell to define an enclosure, and a hydrophilic zeolite fill granules loosely contained within the enclosure. The therapy compress is exposed to a source of moisture to cause absorption of water into the hydrophilic zeolite, and the moisture is delivered from the hydrophilic zeolite through the fluid permeable shell to the treated body portion.

A reduced-pressure, linear-wound closing bolster has a pivotable frame that moves from an extended position to a compressed position under the influence of reduced pressure. The closing bolster may have a first closing member, a second closing member, and an interior space. A manifold member is disposed within the interior space and may be coupled to the pivotable frame. When a reduced pressure is applied, the pivotable frame is urged from the extended position to the compressed position. A first gripping member for transmitting a closing force from the first closing member to a first edge of a linear wound may be attached. Likewise, a second gripping member for transmitting a closing force from the second closing member to a second edge of the linear wound may be attached. Systems and methods are also presented.

A wound cleaning product is described as used for sterile debridement of wounds. The wound cleaning product comprises a composite material having a foam layer and a fiber layer arranged on a surface of the foam layer. The fiber layer is at least partially thermally solidified, and the foam layer and the fiber layer are connected to one another by needling such that fibers of the fiber layer have penetrated into the foam layer and form capillary channels that extend from the fiber layer into the foam layer.

FLEXIBLE HEMOSTATIC PAD

A flexible hemostatic pad formed from a hemostatic powder, which may contain a hydrophilic polymer such as a cation ion exchange resin, compressed onto or into a velvet-like backing substrate is provided for the control of bleeding at a wound site.

Wound cleaning device having a carrier layer and a wound cleaning layer arranged thereon, designed for holding wound exudate and/or solid wound components and having cleaning threads, the carrier layer and/or the wound cleaning layer being provided with at least one storage material that increases the capacity for holding wound exudate.

Apparatus for wound infection prevention

A wound healing device and method that greatly reduces the risk of infection of an incision or wound by removing fluid from the subcutaneous skin layers. The wound healing device includes a first portion that is positioned external of, and on top of, the wound. At least one strip, cord, finger, member is in fluid communication at one end with the first portion while the second free end of the at least one strip, cord, finger, member is pushed down into the wound, in between the sutures or staples of a closed incision. Both the first portion and the at least one strip comprise fluid absorbable material for absorbing the wound fluid. The device remains in place for approximately 1-3 days after which it is removed. Upon removal, natural temporary “type of fistulae” are formed in the subcutaneous skin layers to continue draining wound fluids upward for another 1-2 days.
