Safety and comfort constraints for navigation
A navigational system for a host vehicle may comprise at least one processing device. The processing device may be programmed to receive a first output and a second output associated with the host vehicle and identify a representation of a target object in the first output. The processing device may determine whether a characteristic of the target object triggers a navigational constraint by verifying the identification of the target object based on the first output and, if the at least one navigational constraint is not verified based on the first output, then verifying the identification of the target object based on a combination of the first output and the second output. In response to the verification, the processing device may cause at least one navigational change to the host vehicle.
Systems and methods for evaluating and sharing autonomous vehicle driving style information with proximate vehicles
Systems and methods for characterizing a driving style of an autonomous vehicle are presented. A system may include one or more sensors configured to collect information concerning driving characteristics; a memory containing computer-readable instructions for evaluating the driving characteristics for a pattern(s) correlatable with a driving style of the autonomous vehicle and for characterizing aspects of driving style based on the one or more patterns; and a processor configured to evaluate the driving characteristics for the one or more patterns correlatable with the driving style, and characterize aspects of the driving style based on the pattern(s). Corresponding methods and non-transitory media are disclosed.
Vehicle guidance via infrared projection
A system for guiding a vehicle is provided. The system includes multiple paths on a surface, wherein each path is defined by light projection characteristics of a respective light projection defining a respective path. The system also includes the vehicle. The vehicle includes a sensor configured to detect the light projection characteristic of the respective path of the multiple paths, and a controller guide the vehicle along the respective path with a light projection characteristic that matches an expected light projection characteristic that is assigned to the vehicle.
Systems and methods for a scenario tagger for autonomous vehicles
Systems and methods are directed to determining autonomous vehicle scenarios based on autonomous vehicle operation data. In one example, a computer-implemented method for determining operating scenarios for an autonomous vehicle includes obtaining, by a computing system comprising one or more computing devices, log data representing autonomous vehicle operations. The method further includes extracting, by the computing system, a plurality of attributes from the log data. The method further includes determining, by the computing system, one or more scenarios based on a combination of the attributes, wherein each scenario includes multiple scenario variations and each scenario variation comprises multiple features. The method further includes providing, by the computing system, the one or more scenarios for generating autonomous vehicle operation analytics.
User input configured dynamic shuttle
Systems, methods, and devices for reserving a vehicle with a desired vehicle characteristic are disclosed herein. A system includes a receiver to receive a request to reserve a vehicle, wherein the request indicates a desired vehicle characteristic. The system includes a controller configured to determine a change to the vehicle that will satisfy the vehicle characteristic, and the system includes an implementation component configured to implement the change to the vehicle.
Reducing inconvenience to surrounding road users caused by stopped autonomous vehicles
Aspects of the disclosure provide for reducing inconvenience to other road users caused by stopped autonomous vehicles. As an example, a vehicle having an autonomous driving mode may be stopped at a first location. While the vehicle is stopped, sensor data is received from a perception system of the vehicle. The sensor data may identify a road user. Using the sensor data, a value indicative of a level of inconvenience to the road user caused by stopping the vehicle at the first location may be determined. The vehicle is controlled in the autonomous driving mode to cause the vehicle to move from the first location and in order to reduce the value.
Queueing into pickup and drop-off locations
Aspects of the disclosure provide for controlling an autonomous vehicle to respond to queuing behaviors at pickup or drop-off locations. As an example, a request to pick up or drop off a passenger at a location may be received. The location may be determined to likely have a queue for picking up and dropping off passengers. Based on sensor data received from a perception system, whether a queue exists at the location may be determined. Once it is determined that a queue exists, it may be determined whether to join the queue to avoid inconveniencing other road users. Based on the determination to join the queue, the vehicle may be controlled to join the queue.
Vehicle control apparatus, vehicle control method, and storage medium
A vehicle control apparatus includes: a recognizer which is configured to recognize a motion of the face of a user present outside a vehicle; a determiner which is configured to determine a stop position of the vehicle on the basis of the motion of the face recognized by the recognizer; and a driving controller which controls at least the speed of the vehicle such that the vehicle is caused to stop at the stop position determined by the determiner.
Vehicle and control method thereof
A vehicle is provided to automatically move according to a movement request received from a surrounding vehicle already parked when the vehicle is parked around the surrounding parked vehicle. The vehicle includes a communication unit and a sensor sensing an external surrounding. A steering device steers the vehicle wheels and a power device transmits power to the wheels. In response to receiving vehicle identification information and movement request from the surrounding parked vehicle through the communication unit, a controller determines whether the surrounding vehicle has an authority for the movement request based on the external surrounding and the vehicle identification information. The power device and the steering device are operated based on the movement request when the surrounding parked vehicle has the authority.
Intelligent route selection for autonomous vehicle delivery system
The present disclosure provides a method comprising identifying at least one of a characteristic and an identity of an item for delivery from an origin to a destination; identifying a plurality of possible routes between the origin and the destination using mapping information, the mapping information including for each of the plurality of possible routes, a characterization of each of a plurality of route segments comprising the possible route; evaluating the plurality of possible routes in view of the identified at least one of the item characteristic and the item identity to select one of the plurality of possible routes; and providing the selected one of the plurality of possible routes to a vehicle, wherein the vehicle delivers the item from the origin to the destination via the identified route.
