Swing door operator with offset spring
A swing door operator having a powered driver operable to manipulate a drive unit that rotates a spindle to open a door. As the door is opened, the drive unit compresses a spring engaged with a spring mount that is pivotally connected to the drive unit. The spring mount is pivotable between an operating configuration in which the spring is arranged to be compressed by the drive unit as spindle rotates in the first direction and to expand thereafter to rotate the spindle in a second direction opposite the first direction, and a servicing configuration in which the spring is slidably removable from the spring mount.
System for adjusting the counterbalance of an overhead door
A counterbalance system for an overhead door is disclosed. The system includes a torsion adjustment comprising a first portion and a second portion, the first and second portions being rotatable relative to one another in a first direction and not in a second direction opposite the first direction. The system also includes an anchor fixed to the first portion, a collar fixed to the second portion, the collar being selectively fixable to a shaft of the overhead door, and a spring coupled between the collar and the anchor. The spring supports at least a portion of the weight of the overhead door as the overhead door is raised and lowered. Rotating the first portion of the torsion calibration collar relative to the second portion of the torsion calibration collar increases torsion in the spring and therefore calibrates the spring to support a desired amount of the weight of the overhead door.

The hold-open arrester arrangement has a hold-open arrester arrangement having a hold-open function to hold a door open. The arrangement has also an electric release arrangement. The release arrangement is arranged to release the hold-open function in a fire alarm situation. The hold-open arrester arrangement comprises a sliding block and an arrester unit. The sliding block is connectable with a slide rail in a sliding manner and also pivotable connectable to an arm of a door closer. The arrester unit is connectable to the slide rail and has a body, said electric release arrangement, and said hold-open function with the sliding block.
Torque adjustment mechanism
A torque adjustment mechanism is provided for use with a torsion spring. The torsion spring is a coil spring having a plurality of helical coils that define a hollow core. A torque adjuster is positioned in the interior of the hollow core of the coil spring. The torque adjuster has a circular collar on one end and a securing flange on the other end. The circular collar is designed to fit into the hollow core of the coil spring. A clamp is positioned over the exterior of the coil spring in alignment with the circular collar. The clamp secures the coil spring to circular. The position of the collar in the spring defines the number of the coils that are active and establishes the level torque provided by the torsion spring.
Negator spring tool for paratroop door
In an example, a negator spring tool for winding a negator spring output drum around a rotational axis includes: a pair of tool handles; and a tool disk having an outer edge which is generally circular except for a cutout forming a portion of the outer edge as a cutout edge portion of the outer edge. The tool disk is configured to be releasably attached to the output drum. The tool disk has a drum-facing side which includes protruding teeth protruding from the drum-facing side to engage radial spokes of the output drum when they are pushed into the output drum and the tool disk is rotated in either circumferential direction around the rotational axis. The outer edge of the tool disk includes handle slots which are spaced circumferentially. The distal end of each tool handle is insertable into a handle slot to rotate the tool disk around the rotational axis.
Combined door hinge with variable hydraulic damping and stopper device performance
An apparatus combining a door hinge and a door closer is provided. In one embodiment, the hinge provides a variable hydraulic damping speed control with spring action closing, as well as an optional stop action. In one embodiment, the hinge of the present invention includes an adjustable compression spring to operate the opening and closing of the door. After the door has closed to approximately 20 degrees or so, the hydraulic component of the door may then control the speed of the door preferably from approximately 20 degrees until closed. The hydraulic component can also be adjusted to vary the speed and force of the door opening and closing. A pair of magnets may be present in the control cylinder of the hinge to provide more force to complete the closing function. Additionally, a stop function allows for the door to remain open and in place in one embodiment.

A method and apparatus relating to generating, by at least one motion sensor of a data acquisition device that is mounted to a door having a door closer, motion data indicative of motion as the door is moved from an open position to a closed position, generating, by at least one load cell of the data acquisition device, load data as the door is being opened, analyzing the motion data and load data by a central processing device, determining at least one adjustment to the door closer based on at least one of a duration the door was in each of a plurality of door movement zones, as determined using the motion data, and a force applied to open the door, as determined using the load data, and displaying at least one installation instruction corresponding with the at least one adjustment on a graphical user interface of the central processing device.

The invention relates to a tensioning device (01) for tensioning a coil spring (02) that is supported on a main shaft (03) and at a fixed end is rotatably fixedly connected to a frame. The tensioning device (01) includes a gear drive (05), having a first gear element (06) that is axially displaceably guided on the main shaft (03) and rotatably fixedly connected to a free end of the coil spring (02), and having a second gear element (07) that is in drive engagement with the first gear element (06) in order to set the first gear element (06) in rotation about the main shaft (03). The tensioning device (01) also includes a retaining element (19) that holds the second gear element (11) in the position of drive engagement with the first gear element (06). Furthermore, the tensioning device (01) includes a drive element that is coupled to the second gear element (12) in order to set it in rotation. The gear drive is formed as a bevel gear transmission, wherein the first gear element (06) is formed as a bevel gear (06) and the second gear element (07) is formed as a bevel gear pinion (07), and wherein the rotational axes of the two gear elements (06, 07) extend perpendicularly to one another. The bevel gear (06) is integrally connected to a guide bushing (10), and has a central opening (09) through which the main shaft (03) extends, and has a cylindrical receiving section (12) in which the free end of the coil spring (02) is fastened.
