An electronic device according to various embodiments may include: a housing; a communication module comprising circuitry coupled to at least one surface of the housing configured to be connected to an external device including multiple near field communication (NFC) antennas; and a processor, wherein the processor may be configured to: obtain device information of the external device from the external device based on the external device being coupled; generate antenna setting information for setting the multiple NFC antennas of the external device based on at least one of the device information of the external device and device information of the electronic device; and control the electronic device to transmit the generated antenna setting information to control the setting of the multiple NFC antennas.

A method of conducting two-way communication between a first NFC enabled device and a second NFC enabled device. The method includes transmitting a write command from the first NFC enabled device to the second NFC enabled device. A silent mode of the second NFC enabled device, in which the presence of the second NFC enabled device is hidden from the first NFC enabled device, is then activated. While the silent mode is activated, the second NFC enabled device processes the write command and writes a response in a memory of the second NFC enabled device. The silent mode is then deactivated, which triggers the first NFC enabled device to read the response in the memory of the second NFC enabled device.

Method and device for discriminating one of a group of NFC transmitters

A method is provided for differentiating one of a plurality of unpowered NFC transmitting devices for NFC communication with a receiving device. Each NFC transmitting device has a transmitter NFC interface and an NFC communication range. A range extending device has a power source, a transmitter communication interface, a range extender antenna, and an amplifier. One of the transmitting devices is selected and the range extending device is connected to it so that the transmitter communication interface engages the transmitter NFC interface of the selected transmitting device. This action serves to establish an extended communication range for the selected NFC transmitting device. The NFC transmitting devices are then positioned at a distance from the receiving device that is within the extended communication range, but outside the communication ranges of the other NFC transmitting devices. NFC communication is then established between the selected NFC transmitting device and the receiving device.
