COMPOSITION FOR USE IN CLEANING METAL COMPONENTS

A composition for use in cleaning metal components having Hansen Solubility Parameters for the composition of δ.sub.D≥15, δ.sub.P<6, and δ.sub.H from about 5.5 to about 6.9. The composition includes a blend of organic solvents, none of which are classified as a volatile organic compound, a hazardous air pollutant, or a potential carcinogen, or exhibit a vapor pressure of less than 0.1 mmHg at 20° C. Further, the blend of organic solvents includes a halogenated aromatic solvent having one or more halide groups and from 6 to 8 carbon atoms, an organic solvent having one or more ester functional group and from 3 to 9 carbon atoms, and one or more of a linear or branched hydrocarbon solvent with 6-12 carbon atoms with a single polar moiety head group or a solvent containing one or more ketone functional groups and from 2 to 5 carbon atoms.

Described herein is a water-based, alkaline cleaner concentrate for producing a cleaner for metallic surfaces, the concentrate including a) at least one (meth)acrylic acid homopolymer having a weight-average molar mass in the range from 3 000 to 19 000 g/mol and b) at least one (meth)acrylic acid copolymer having a weight-average molar mass in the range from 50 000 to 100 000 g/mol. Also described herein are a corresponding cleaner for metallic surfaces with reduced pickling erosion, a process for anticorrosive treatment of metallic surfaces that includes a corresponding cleaning step, a metallic surface obtained by the process, and a method of use thereof in the sector of the metalworking industries.

MULTIPURPOSE ALKALINE COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF USE

Liquid multipurpose alkaline compositions for use as pre-sprays to beneficially remove polymerized soils, de-stain, remove hard water deposits and/or otherwise assist in general cleaning of difficult soils are provided. The multipurpose alkaline compositions include at least one non-hydroxide alkaline source, at least one surfactant, a chelant and a solvent system. A composition which conditions a surface for electroless deposition of a metal is disclosed. The composition comprises a polymer surfactant comprising repeating units of a monomer, wherein each of the repeating units comprises a functional group; a metal ion; and water, wherein the functional group in each of the repeating units forms a complex with the metal ion. In a preferred embodiment, the functional group is amine, and the surfactant comprises polyethyleneimine and/or polyallylamine. The metal ion comprises cobalt, rhodium, palladium or silver. A method of forming the composition as well as a method of electroless deposition using the composition are also disclosed.

A laundry care or dish care composition can include a poly alpha-1,6-glucan derivative, wherein the poly alpha-1,6-glucan derivative includes: (i) a poly alpha-1,6-glucan backbone of glucose monomer units, wherein greater than or equal to 40% of the glucose monomer units are linked via alpha-1,6 glycosidic linkages, and optionally at least 5% of the backbone glucose monomer units have branches via alpha-1,2 and/or alpha-1,3 glycosidic linkages; and (ii) at least one hydrophobic organic group linked to the poly alpha-1,6-glucan backbone through an ether (—O—) linkage moiety; wherein, the poly alpha-1,6-glucan backbone has a weight average degree of polymerization of at least 5; wherein, the poly alpha-1,6-glucan derivative has a degree of substitution of ether linkage moiety of from 0.20 to 1.00; wherein the poly alpha-1,6-glucan derivative is substantially free from hydrophilic substitution.

BIODEGRADABLE SURFACTANT FOR HARD SURFACE CLEANERS

Provided is a surfactant of structure (I), wherein m is a value in a range of 3 to 10, n is a value in a range of 3 to 20 and z is a value in a range of 1 to 3. Said surfactant is useful as a biodegradable low foaming surfactant.
