BIPHASIC COATINGS WITH CHEMICAL SENSING, AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
Some variations provide a system for sensing a chemical active in a coating, the system comprising: a coating disposed on a substrate; a chemical active contained within the coating, wherein the chemical active is mobile within the coating, and wherein the chemical active is ionically and/or electrically conductive; a first electrode and a second electrode configured to measure AC impedance within the coating; and an electrical meter configured in electrical communication with the first and second electrodes to read a signal corresponding to the AC impedance. Some methods comprise: pressing electrodes against the coating; reading out an impedance value; and converting the impedance value to a concentration of the chemical active in the coating. Other methods comprise: adding a solvent to a coating surface; pressing electrodes against a surface region; reading out an impedance value; and converting the impedance value to a concentration of the chemical active in the coating.
METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING FILM DEGRADATION
An object of the present invention is to provide a novel method for diagnosing film degradation which can identify the degraded state of a film based on a resin more efficiently and reliably than ever. In order to attain this object, a method for diagnosing the degradation of a film based on a resin is adopted, the method comprising using the following analysis method A and/or analysis method B, which is a non-destructive analysis method: analysis method A: confirming the presence or absence of abnormality in the film by visual observation and olfactometry, and analysis method B: confirming the presence or absence of an acid anhydride and a sign of hydrolysis reaction as to the film by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis.
Wall Structure Monitoring System
A wall having a fluid impervious coating thereon and further having a monitoring arrangement which provides for monitoring the condition of the wall. The monitoring arrangement mounted on a surface of the wall
RESIN COMPOSITION QUALITY CONTROLLING METHOD, CABLE AND TUBE QUALITY CONTROLLING METHOD, DETERMINATION DEVICE, INSPECTION SYSTEM, AND CABLE AND TUBE
A resin composition quality controlling method includes a step of measuring a Raman spectrum of a resin composition composed of TiO.sub.2 particles dispersed in a base material mainly composed of a silicone rubber by irradiating the resin composition with laser, and a step of determining a concentration of the TiO.sub.2 particles in the resin composition based on an intensity of a fluorescence spectrum in the Raman spectrum.
Syringe with PECVD lubrication
A syringe or other vessel having a substrate surface coated by PECVD is provided. The PECVD coating is made by generating plasma from a gaseous reactant comprising an organosilicon precursor and optionally O.sub.2. The lubricity, hydrophobicity and/or barrier properties of the coating are set by setting the ratio of the O.sub.2 to the organosilicon precursor in the gaseous reactant, and/or by setting the electric power used for generating the plasma. In particular, a lubricity coating made by said method is provided. Vessels coated by said method and the use of such vessels protecting a compound or composition contained or received in said coated vessel against mechanical and/or chemical effects of the surface of the uncoated vessel material are also provided.
Light-based shielding detection
Disclosed herein is a sunscreen detector for use with portable device, such as a mobile and/or wearable device. One variation of a sunscreen detector comprises an illumination system that is configured to illuminate a target skin area with ultraviolet and/or infrared spectrum light and a sensor system that is configured to detect the amount of ultraviolet and/or infrared spectrum light that is reflected from the target skin area. The sunscreen detector is configured to analyze the data collected by the sensor system to generate a notification to the user as to whether they should apply sunscreen.
METHOD OF FORMING A LIPID BILAYER
The present application is directed, at least in part, to a process for forming droplet interface blayers (DIBs). In one or more embodiments, a housing is produced wherein the housing includes at least one aperture that comprises a cis portion and a trans portion, at least one cis electrode receptacle and at least one trans electrode receptacle, wherein the cis electrode receptacle is operatively connected to the cis portion, and the trans electrode receptacle is operatively connected to the trans portion. In at least one embodiment, the number of cis and trans electrode receptacles equals the number of apertures. Electrodes are treated with a buffer and then inserted into each of the cis and trans electrode receptacles.
CONDUCTIVE SENSOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
The present disclosure provides a sensor system including one or more sensors having a first container fluidly coupled to a second container, the second container being configured to receive a conductive media from the first container. A first movable element is slidingly engaged with the first container to cause the second container to receive the conductive media from the first container. A first electrode is positioned in the first cavity and electrically coupled to the conductive media. In some examples, a second electrode is electrically coupled to the first electrode and the conductive media. The sensor deposits the conductive media on a working electrode to form an electrochemical cell and obtain one or more material properties of the working electrode. In some examples, the sensor system includes an array of sensors which deposit the conducive media in multiple locations on a working electrode to generate a material property map.
