Liquid ejecting apparatus and method of controlling liquid ejecting apparatus

A liquid ejecting apparatus includes a carriage that mounts a liquid ejecting head provided with a nozzle surface in which nozzles to eject a liquid are formed, and is configured to move the liquid ejecting head between an ejection area used to cause the liquid ejecting head to eject the liquid onto a medium and a maintenance area used to perform maintenance of the liquid ejecting head, and a liquid receiving portion that has a size equal to or larger than the nozzle surface, is opposed to the nozzle surface located at a detachment position defined in the maintenance area, and receives the liquid discharged from the nozzles when detaching a liquid supply coupling portion detachably coupled to the liquid ejecting head.

Liquid discharge apparatus

A liquid discharge apparatus is provided including: a plurality of heads; and a maintenance unit movable in a first direction between a first position at which the maintenance unit faces the plurality of heads and a second position at which the maintenance unit does not face the plurality of heads, and configured to perform maintenance for the plurality of heads. The maintenance unit has a plurality of suction units corresponding to the plurality of heads, respectively, and a base unit to which the plurality of suction units are attached. The plurality of suction units includes a movable suction unit attached to the base unit so that, in a case that the maintenance unit is arranged at the first position, the movable suction unit is movable in a second direction, which crosses the first direction and which is a direction approaching closely to or separating away from the plurality of heads.

INKJET RECORDING APPARATUS

The inkjet recording apparatus includes a conveyance belt, a conveyance plate, a suction unit, an inkjet head, and a cleaning unit. The conveyance belt has a plurality of through holes. The suction unit causes the conveyance belt to suck the sheet. The conveyance plate includes a plurality of through holes formed in bottom portions of the plurality of recessed portions. The inkjet head includes a head main body and a head end portion adjacent to the head main body, and faces an upper surface of the conveyance plate via the conveyance belt. The cleaning unit removes ink adhering to a lower surface of the head main body. A ratio of the recessed portions per unit area in a facing region of the conveyance plate facing the head end portion is smaller than a ratio of the recessed portions per unit area in a region other than the facing region.

An inkjet printing apparatus having a printhead assembly comprises a plurality of printing heads on each of which there is defined a nozzle orifice surface having a row of nozzle orifices through which ink is ejected. The printing apparatus includes a cleaning station comprising a cleaning head array, a plurality of cleaning heads mountable on the cleaning head array and a purge tray. Ambient air is forced under vacuum into a flow channel within each cleaning head such that highly focused fluid flow is generated at the orifice surface when the flow volume impinges the profiled exterior of a vacuum outlet port provided on each cleaning head producing sufficient shear forces to remove accumulated ink and debris from the nozzle orifice surface. The invention also relates to improved cleaning heads, an array of heads in a cleaning station assembly and a method of cleaning nozzle orifice surfaces.
