A liquid ejecting apparatus includes a liquid ejecting portion that has a nozzle and an opening surface in which the nozzle opens and that ejects a liquid from the nozzle toward a medium that is transported along a transport path, a wiper member that wipes the liquid ejecting portion while moving, a guide that guides movement of the wiper member, and a cap that has an opening portion and that is movable between a capping position at which the cap contacts the liquid ejecting portion so that the opening portion surrounds the nozzle and an open position at which the cap is apart from the liquid ejecting portion. When the cap is at the open position vertically below the guide, the opening portion is at least partially covered by the guide.

Capping assembly for inkjet printhead

A capping assembly includes a capper having a perimeter seal for sealing engagement with the printhead. The capping assembly has an enclosed capping volume when the capper is sealingly engaged with the printhead, whereby the capping volume is variable in response to relative differences in pressures inside and outside the capping volume.

Printing unit with three printheads

A printing unit includes: three elongate printheads positioned in a staggered overlapping arrangement for spanning across a media feed path, wherein a first printhead and a second printhead are longitudinally spaced apart and positioned in a row across the media feed path and a third printhead is offset from and overlaps with both the first and second printheads; three wipers for longitudinally wiping respective printheads in a direction perpendicular to a media feed direction, each wiper being parked at one longitudinal end of its respective printhead. One of the wipers, in its parked position, is positioned in a space between the first and second printheads.

Print module with air exhaust opposite ink ejection direction

A print module includes: a body housing at least one printed circuit board (PCB); an air inlet and an air outlet positioned in a roof of the body; an air pathway extending through the body between the air inlet and the air outlet; and an inkjet printhead positioned at a lower part of the body opposite the roof, the inkjet printhead electrically communicating with the PCB.

Inkjet head maintenance mechanism

An inkjet head maintenance mechanism includes: an inkjet head including a nozzle plate with ejection ports arranged in the nozzle plate and configured to eject droplets of ink, and a protection plate stacked on the nozzle plate and having an opening formed at a position corresponding to the ejection ports and exposing the ejection ports to an outside; a cap configured to come into contact with the protection plate and surround the opening of the protection plate; and a controller configured to detect an on-off state of a power supply of an inkjet printer to which the inkjet head is attached and adjust a contact pressure of the cap onto the protection plate depending on the detected on-off state of the power supply.

Liquid jetting apparatus

There is provided a liquid jetting apparatus including: a liquid jetting head; a carriage; a cap; a cap switching device switching the cap between a capping state and an uncapping state; a carriage blocker movable between a first position not contacting carriage, and a second position blocking movement of the carriage in a first direction; and a contacting portion locatable, in the uncapping state, at a third position at which the contacting portion is not in contact with carriage, and locatable, in the capping state, at a fourth position at which, under a condition that the blocked carriage rotates around an axis perpendicular to a liquid jetting surface with the carriage blocker as a supporting point, the contacting portion is capable of contacting the rotating carriage. The contacting portion is configured to move integrally with the cap in a plane parallel to the liquid jetting surface.

CARD PROCESSING SYSTEM WITH DROP-ON-DEMAND PRINT HEAD AUTOMATED MAINTENANCE ROUTINES

Maintenance routines that can be used to maintain the operability of one or more DOD print heads in a card processing system. The maintenance routines can include, but are not limited to: a cover routine where a cover or cap is selectively and automatically located over the print head(s) to protect the print head(s); a shake pulse routine that energizes the nozzles of the print head(s) without causing an ejection of ink; a spit routine where the nozzles of the print head(s) are energized to eject one or more drops of ink; and a purge routine where the nozzles are not electrically energized but the pressure holding the ink in the nozzles of the print head(s) is reversed to push ink out of the nozzles.

Image recording apparatus including first and second guide portions for moving cap unit toward head to cover nozzle surface

An image recording apparatus includes: a carriage movable in a first direction; a head mounted on the carriage; a holder movable in the first direction; a cap unit mounted on the holder; and first and second guide portions. The cap unit is movable relative to the holder in the first direction and is also movable toward and away from the head in a second direction crossing the first direction. The head is configured to abut on a second abutment portion of the cap unit in accordance with movement of the carriage in the first direction toward a first abutment portion of the holder. The first guide portion is configured to guide the holder in the first direction. The second guide portion is configured to guide the holder in the second direction to move the cap unit toward the head in accordance with movement of the holder in the first direction.

Inkjet recording apparatus

An inkjet recording apparatus includes a recording head including a plurality of nozzles for ejecting ink, a conveyor belt that has a plurality of apertures and conveys recording media one by one, a control unit, an ink receiver, and a pipe-shaped ink discharge flow path. The control unit controls drive of the recording head and the conveyor belt to perform flushing, in which the ink is ejected from the nozzle of the recording head to pass through one of the apertures, at a timing different from a timing contributing to image recording. The ink receiver is disposed to face the recording head sandwiching the conveyor belt therebetween, to receive the ink after passing through the aperture when the flushing is performed. The ink discharge flow path is connected to the ink receiver. When the flushing is performed, a predetermined amount of liquid is stored in the ink receiver.

Liquid ejecting apparatus and maintenance device

A liquid ejecting apparatus includes a liquid ejecting head that ejects a liquid from a plurality of nozzles disposed in a nozzle surface, a wiping member that wipes the nozzle surface, and a wiping member moving mechanism that moves the wiping member between a wiping position where the nozzle surface is wiped and a retracted position. The wiping member moving mechanism has a wiping member holding mechanism that holds the wiping member and a holding state releasing mechanism that releases a holding state of the wiping member holding mechanism in a case where a load that is equal to or higher than a set value is received.
