Medical wetness sensing devices and related systems and methods
A medical wetness sensing device includes a base adapted to be disposed on a wearer of the medical wetness sensing device. The base includes a first electrical conductor and a second electrical conductor electrically insulated from the first electrical conductor. The first electrical conductor includes a hinge portion enabling a first portion of the first electrical conductor to deflect, at the hinge portion, relative to a second portion of the first electrical conductor. The medical wetness sensing device includes a controller electrically connected to the first electrical conductor and the second electrical conductor. The controller is configured to detect a presence or an absence of a medical fluid electrically connecting the first and second electrical conductors.
Method for manufacturing a wound dressing and a wound dressing
A method for manufacturing a wound dressing having a substrate, and a wound dressing manufactured by such a method are described. The method has a step of providing a sacrificial layer of material to be perforated by means of a hot pin perforator, in order to remove any molten residues on the heated pins of the hot pin perforator, before the same pins are used to make holes in the substrate. The presented method is cost effective, robust and reduces the risk of contaminating substances being embedded in the substrate during the hole making process.
Abrasion Preventing Pad
A pad may be worn to prevent abrasion or provide a fulcrum during exercise. The pad has a tapering thickness profile to provide support and leverage to the wearer. The pad may have an adhesive side for adhering either to a garment or directly to a wearer. Also disclosed is a variety of garments including pockets in which the pad may be removably retained.
BLOOD EXTRACTION
Provided by this disclosure is a method and system for the preparation of a blood clot-based wound dressing whereby a fluid, typically gas such as air is propelled through one conduit into a sealed, blood-containing test tube, and at the same time blood s permitted to flow out of the test through a second conduit and thereby transferred into a blot clot molding space where the blood is permitted to coagulate forming a clot of a shape defined by the molding space. The propelling fluid is typically air that is propelled to flow in the first conduit by a syringe. Provide by this disclosure is also a coupling device useful in said method and system; as well as a kit of parts comprising elements needed for carrying out the method of this disclosure.
Syndesmosis reduction device and method of use
An improved syndesmosis reduction device has a wrap of elastic material extending a length L from a first end to a second end with an open window or slot positioned in an intermediate portion of the wrap spaced from the ends. The wrap causes a reduction of an injured ankle and is facilitated by the elastic nature of the wrap. The reduction is facilitated by circumferentially wrapping the wrap from a leg to a foot or vice versa in a compressive fashion by securing the first end by wrapping and stretching the wrap to the second end. The window or slot is to permit an incision at the ankle for hardware placement without the need to remove the wrap and without loss of the reduction achieved.
ABSORBENT WOUND DRESSING
The present invention concerns extensible absorbent wound dressings. The wound dressing has a wound contact layer having a proximal surface facing toward the wound and a distal surface facing away from the wound, and a backing layer having a proximal surface facing toward the wound and a distal surface facing away from the wound, the backing layer having an absorbent region located on a proximal surface thereof, the absorbent region comprising a plurality of discrete absorbent members, wherein the backing layer is configured to be positioned over the wound contact layer, such that the absorbent region is located adjacent to the distal surface of the wound contact layer, and wherein the absorbent region and the wound contact layer are configured to be detached at least in an area inside a perimeter of the absorbent region. The absorbent wound dressings of the present invention can be used to dress so-called truly three-dimensional anatomical areas, such as for example a knee or an elbow.

IMPROVED SYNDESMOSIS REDUCTION DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE
An improved syndesmosis reduction device has a wrap of elastic material extending a length L from a first end to a second end with an open window or slot positioned in an intermediate portion of the wrap spaced from the ends. The wrap is configured to achieve a reduction of an injured ankle and is facilitated by the elastic nature of the ankle wrap.
ARRAY OF ABSORBENT DRESSINGS FOR THE TREATMENT OF WOUNDS
Array for the treatment of wounds comprising a first absorbent wound dressing (10, 30) that is non-adhesive and a second absorbent wound dressing (20, 40) that is adhesive, wherein the first wound dressing (10, 30) comprising a first absorbent pad (12, 32) comprising superabsorbent fibers and/or particles, and wherein the second wound dressing (20, 40) comprises a second absorbent pad (22, 42) comprising superabsorbent fibers and/or particles, characterized in that the second wound dressing (20, 40) comprises means for the adhesive fixation of the second wound dressing (20, 40) to the skin of a patient, wherein the means for the adhesive fixation comprise a skin-friendly silicone adhesive (23b, 43b).
