Methods and systems for a heads-up configurable vehicle dash display are provided. Specifically, a configurable dash may comprise one or more displays that are capable of receiving input from a user. At least one of these displays may be configured to present a plurality of custom applications that, when manipulated by at least one user, are adapted to control and/or monitor functions associated with a vehicle and/or associated peripheral devices. It is anticipated that the function and appearance of the plurality of custom applications may be altered via user and/or processor input.

An input device of a vehicle according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a touch display for recognizing user input, and a controller that recognizes touch information including touch coordinates and the number of touches from the user input, and deforms a shape of the touch display based on the touch information to form deformed manipulation portions having different user set functions.

A vehicle includes: a plurality of electronic devices each configured to adjust an angle of a part thereof, disposed at different positions and configured to perform the same function a touch screen having a plurality of touch areas for receiving operation commands of the plurality of electronic devices, respectively, configured to display a plurality of display areas respectively corresponding to the plurality of touch areas; and a controller configured to recognize the touch areas and touch gestures based on a touch signal received by the touch screen, to identify the electronic device corresponding to the recognized touch area, to identify operation information corresponding to the recognized touch gesture, and to control the identified electronic device based on the identified operation information. The plurality of electronic devices includes at least one of a plurality of vents, a plurality of lighting devices, and a plurality of sound output devices.

One, some or all of a specified number of multiple operating functions of an operating device can be selected by a user. Each operating function is assigned to a respective finger of a hand of the user in the operating device by a controller, and a detection device is used to detect a contact of at least one of the fingers of the hand on a specified contact surface of the operating device and ascertain which of the fingers of the hand is contacting the contact surface. Each of the operating functions whose assigned finger contacts the contact surface is determined as the user selection by a controller, and the user selection is signaled to a subsequent process of the operating device using selection data which identifies each selected operating function.
