A shopping cart includes a wheeled base, two support masts, a basket, and a gate. The two support masts are coupled to and extend upwardly from the wheeled base. The basket is coupled to the two support masts and extends over the wheeled base to define a compartment having a rear opening. The gate includes a primary panel and a child seat. The primary panel is rotatable between a first position, covering the rear opening, and a second position extending above the compartment. The child seat extends from a front surface of the primary panel and into the compartment when the primary panel is in the first position. The child seat comprises a bottom panel, a back, and side panels. The bottom panel and opposing side panels collectively form a child seat surround extending from a first side of the primary panel to a second side of the primary panel.

In some embodiments, the chassis defines on each lateral side of the cart a pair of vertically spaced handles, each handle surrounding and defining an opening. The handles preferably include handle bars shaped in an oval. On each cart side a curved elongate member extends between and connects the handles, and the curved elongate members represent the rearmost part of the cart. The rear area of the upper basket defines a seat for an infant, and a rear ledge of the lower basket defines a seat for a toddler.

A method and a system are disclosed including a stackable storage container. In various embodiments, the stackable storage container includes stacking locks that may be deployed automatically to lock the stackable storage containers together when a first storage container is placed upon the top of a second storage container. A tri-state locking system is used to lock the containers in a stack configuration. Deep chamfers at bottom surfaces and top lids of storage containers allow automatic alignment of the containers. When storage containers are stacked and aligned, a lock status indicator is activated to indicate the state of the stacking locks. The lock status indicator may also have an added function to allow a user to unlock the stacked storage containers to detach and remove them from the stack. The user may not manually lock the storage containers but the user may unlock them manually.

The shopping cart bagging station includes a support channel and three hooks coupled to the support channel. The support channel couples to the shopping cart. The three hooks hold shopping bags. By using the shopping cart bagging station, a customer does not have to visit a checkout station to bag their purchased items.

USER ASSISTING ROBOT FOR SHOPPING APPLICATIONS

A robot system includes a holding compartment configured to transport one or more items and an electronic control unit having a processor and a non-transitory computer readable memory including a machine-readable instruction set. The robot system further includes a camera for capturing image data of an environment of the holding compartment and a robotic arm each communicatively coupled to the electronic control unit. The machine-readable instruction set causes the processor to receive image data of the environment of the holding compartment from the camera, determine a set of handling instructions for an item collected by the robotic arm, determine a location within the holding compartment for placing the item collected by the robotic arm based on the image data of the environment of the holding compartment and the set of handling instructions, and manipulate the robotic arm to place the item within the holding compartment at the determined location.

Items to be purchased are placed in the shopping cart, where they are automatically scanned by the sensor system. The shopping cart sensor system includes a frame and a sensor coupled to the frame. The frame rotates with respect to the shopping cart so that the sensor can collect product information from items in the shopping cart. A first and a second light bar and a microcomputer are also coupled to the frame. The product information is used to ring up the items a customer wishes to purchase, so the customer does not have to visit a checkout station to have their items rung up.
