An insulation system configured for use in an electric machine includes at least one first insulation section including at least one first insulation element, the first insulation element being configured to be applied to at least a portion of a first winding type of a plurality of windings, and the first insulation element having a first insulation thickness, and at least one second insulation section including at least one second insulation element, the second insulation element being configured to be applied to at least a portion of a second winding type of the plurality of windings, and the second insulation element having a second insulation thickness greater than the first insulation thickness of the first insulation element, wherein the first insulation section is arranged adjacent the second insulation section in a circumferential direction.

A slot liner for an electric machine is arranged to be located and removably retained in a slot of a machine to secure a winding in the slot. The slot liner includes a flexible electrically non-conductive material defining a body having a first surface to be located against a wall of the slot and an opposing surface configured to receive a winding therearound. The slot liner also includes a phase separator arm extending adjacent but spaced from the opposing surface, where the opposing surface and the phase separator arm define a space therebetween to accommodate a winding when mounted onto the slot liner. In use, the separator arm extends along the slot to separate a winding mounted on the slot liner from another winding secured in the slot by a slot liner on an adjacent tooth.

STATOR FOR ELECTRIC MOTOR HAVING INSULATION SLEEVES TO CONNECT LAMINATED CORE

An electric motor includes a rotor and a stator. The stator includes laminated steel plates assembled in a stack, with axially extending openings that extend through the stack for receiving stator coil wires. Insulating inserts are provided, with one extending through each of the openings that receives a stator coil wire. The insulating inserts are formed as plate connecting inserts having a hollow body with a coil wire receiving channel, and a first end is slidably inserted into one of the axially extending openings and a second end with a head is seated against an axially outermost one of the plates. A first subset of the inserts are inserted with the respective heads on a first axial side of the stack, and a second subset of the inserts are inserted with the respective heads on a second axial side. Stator coil wires extend through the coil wire receiving channels.

At least two of the layers extend together and terminate at an edge, where the edge is covered by a seal.
