A vehicle body lateral structure includes a rear strake which is provided with a mounting part for being mounted on a plate-shaped member of a side sill through a rear inner fender, a bolt fastening surface which protrudes from the mounting part by a first protrusion amount toward the front of the vehicle, and a bolt through-hole which opens from the bolt fastening surface toward the front of the vehicle. The rear inner fender includes a cut-out section which has a larger diameter than the bolt fastening surface. A stepped bolt includes in its axial direction, a screw portion which screws into a nut fixed to the plate-shaped member of the side sill, a small-diameter cylindrical portion, and a flange portion which has a smaller diameter than the bolt fastening surface.

MOTOR VEHICLE BODY

A motor vehicle body includes a rear wheel housing with a wheel well that accommodates a rear wheel and a wall section upwardly projecting form the wheel well. A C-pillar inner wall is fastened to the wall section along a first fastening zone and overlaps an opening formed in the wall section between the first fastening zone and wheel well. A weld joins the C-pillar inner wall and a C-pillar outer wall together at the level of the opening.

A motor vehicle body includes a rear wheel housing with a wheel well that accommodates a rear wheel and a wall section upwardly projecting form the wheel well. A C-pillar inner wall is fastened to the wall section along a first fastening zone and overlaps an opening formed in the wall section between the first fastening zone and wheel well. A weld joins the C-pillar inner wall and a C-pillar outer wall together at the level of the opening.

A mud flap for a wheeled vehicle includes an upper mounting portion and an extended protection portion. The extended protection portion includes at least two areas with slotted air flow openings. An upper slot area includes rows of elongated slots with the slots arranged in columns in each row. A lower slot area includes rows of elongated slots with the slots arranged in columns in each row. The slots in the upper slot area have heights that are greater than the heights of slots in the lower slot area. In some embodiments, a middle slot area is positioned between the upper slot area and the lower slot area. The slots in the middle slot area have different heights in different rows. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the slots in the upper slot area is replaced with diagonal mounting features.

A gusset including a slant face portion which is provided at a front face thereof and configured to extend obliquely rearwardly-and-outwardly is provided in the closed-cross section space. A gap space which forms a part of the closed-cross section space is provided between the slant face portion and the rear face portion of the wheel house provided on a wheel-house side so as to face the slant face portion.

A connecting reinforcement is provided between a hinge pillar and a wheel house so as to reinforce at least around a rear face portion of the wheel house. The connecting reinforcement extends in the vertical direction along a rear face portion of the wheel house and has a closed-cross section space, in a sectional view perpendicular to the vertical direction, inside thereof. A gusset including a slant face portion which is provided at a front face thereof and configured to extend obliquely rearwardly-and-outwardly is provided in the closed-cross section space. A gap space which forms a part of the closed-cross section space is provided between the slant face portion and the rear face portion of the wheel house provided on a wheel-house side so as to face the slant face portion.
